$3300 for a wobbly motor..................gaaaaaahhhhhhhh :x :x

A complete LS1, with all accessories (a/c, p/steer pump, alternator), ECU and full wiring harness - with the 4-speed auto attached as well - could be mine for $4,400 tomorrow. I am looking for a cheaper one, but may struggle to beat this price. Thats for a motor with about 80,000km clocked up.....

I'll check out that link Wobbles, cheers mate. The local Jaguar legends (Pete & Paul Dunster) closed up their shop a couple of years ago. I think Peter still works out of a workshop on his farm somewhere local......he may be able to be tracked down. Hopefully I won't need much in the way of spare parts *fingers crossed*.

Aardie - lost it years ago !!

I'll keep the pictures coming, and we should get some nice ones out the front of MadKaws place on the 4th :kuda: . I really want to knock this project over as quick as possible (yes, unusual for something from here) - but the quicker its built, the quicker I can start driving the bastard.

Nice one Gos. Back in the day there used to be a few of these getting around with Ford V8's in them (Blasphemy I know). Be great to see it with an LS1

I dunno how easy to bolt in the LS1 will be, bit if its completely foreign, why don't you goto a wreckers and pick up a toyota soarer 1UZ-FE, they make a ncie 210kw there QOHC 4L V8, reliable as all hell, more so than a chev motor! and will set u about about $1500 for the complete motor!
otherwise you could splash out and spend $2500 for a 2JZ-GTE which is a turbo supra motor, but for a 3L twin turbo they make 430nm of torque standard, which for a 1993 motor is more than then new 5.7L LS1 makes!
Otherwise if you wanna go cheap and cheerful a 1JZ-GTE 2.5L Twin Turbo, makes a beefy 380nm.

I did have a supra with a 2JZ and we ran 15psi with intercooler and all that jazz and it made over 550nm of torque, so you'll have no worries carrying that beast around. Some food for thought though!

We were looking at a reco 2L motor and gearbox, with carbies and exhaust fitted for about 6K. Would be cheaper, more powerful and get better economy from a Subaru boxer motor. Just needs an adaptor plate on the gearbox and somewhere to fit radiators and oil coolers.

As for the Jag Gos, there was a company in UK called Lister that used to conversions on the V12 XJS. It started life as a 6.something V12, and rolled out as a 7.2L V12 - was an absolute monster. I think they even got them to handle OK. That would sure beat a 5.7 V8 :)

Just make sure its not an early model LS1 fitted to the VT-VX 220-225kw version due to the oil surge problems that occured. Im not entirely sure but I think by the VY 240kw version it wasn't an issue. Holden kept rebuilding a few of those VT 5.7L motors and once warranty was up washed their hands of them. The other jag you've got pictured looks like its got the later LS1 fitted to the VZ 05-06 models which was pretty much bug free and a better option. If you could find a 6.0L would be alot stronger but probs not at that price. Have fun! Will be watching with keen interest :D

Gos you are goose! How dare you destroy a beautiful Jag  . Admittedly not one of the better models that Jag sent out but still it is a Jag. I nearly got my hands on one of only a handful of six cyclinder

You could get a 5.3 V12 original(noted as the best V12 built) and drop that in.

I am currently restoring my late fathers EType, a project he never finished, couldn't imagine destroying a Jag like that. Can't wait to get it going with the sweet V12 and yes I will take it to the drags once just for fun.
