Interforum etiquette.???

Postby MadKaw » Wed Jan 18, 2006 7:18 pm

I've noticed on Kawi forums that all posts containing the KSRC web addy have been edited to remove the link.... other links have not been edited.

Which raises the question of what is good interforum ettiqette.

Should ppl post links to other forums that cater to a similar subject.?
Should references to other forums be removed so as not to attract our members or promote "the competition".?
Or, there's enough ppl to go around and they will stay at the place they prefer so it should be open slather...

I know of some groups that have gained the majority of there members from KSRC by ppl selectively PMing them.....
Is it fair that others prosper and build there member base from KSRC's hard work or, as stated above, should it be open slather as it shouldnt effect our member base and the more Kwaka sites the better. ?

Just out of interest, which sites? I'm surprised people could be that petty, or feel that threatened!

I think the best sites are those that allow free communication between people with similar interests. As soon as site admins start doing shit like auto-removing links to sites that relate to the same interest area, people will probably be less inclined to post to that site.

Answer C - as above. Its dissapointing that our link has been removed when others haven't  , but what can we do ??

Plenty of people to go around methinks, and policing this type of thing would be pretty difficult anyway ?

just my 2c worth....

well its easy, if no one is going to support the ksrc forum, why should you let your site support others..

Where's my pm? Image I don't even have a Kawasaki and check in at least once a day. Why wont they poach me? Image

If it's the same site that's doing the PM'ming that's doing the link removal, they have a problem. A big problem. (But with little dicks). I reckon you just let it run its course. The members will utlimately decide who posts where and an interboard battle just drags down the good will of the good board.

AS it states, kawiforums.com have removed every link in posts mentioning KSRC.. Theres quite a lot that have been edited..

and for the record KSRC do not edit, ban or stop any links to other forums...
My last comment is a friendly dig at one our members, all in good humour of course.. :-)

ooops sorry - I read Kawi forums as an abbreviation of Kawasaki forums, not kawiforums. What can I say, I'm illiterate!

That's surprising - I used to post there and often posted links to the ninja250 forum, none of which were removed at the time.

You'd think a US forum would have nothing to fear from an Aussie forum, given the way people tend to use these forums to do things like organise group rides or discuss local road laws.

Don't worry there not poaching... but you still don't have the right bike to be poached anyway.... :-)

I believe it should all be out there, and then the wheat will be separated from the chaff, the cream will rise to the top, you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear and a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush...
I have no idea where I was going with that, I'm getting senile..

I say, if other forums want to poach our members, then let them. If members want to go to a different forum and not continue to post here, then they probably weren't going to fit in anyway...
