1st Anniversary

Postby Felix » Tue Mar 29, 2005 4:10 pm

Yep, according to my records, mental records as the paper ones are scattered everywhere, I have now had my licence for a year after getting my Learners on 5 Jan 2004 (the one piece of paper I did find).

Much to my mum's suprise, I didn't immediately become dead the second I rode a motor bike.

It might sound trite, but biking has been the one thing that has kept me from going nutso through all the crap I've been through the last year and a bit. It's been great, and it is amazing how many people I keep finding that ride, or used to ride, and always want to bend my ear about bikes in one way or another.

I have to concur - commutting the last 12 months have kept me sane. If I had've been on the train I would've been stressing the whole time - or at least thinking about work. It's very zen I know but on the bike my mind clears of everything else - major relief.
Happy Birthday :D

Well done, Felix! I think your Mum and mine must know each other because she thought exactly the same thing (still does!)

Heheh, yep we're a great community to be a part of, that's for sure.
I always remember the day I passed my Ls and a rider friend of mine congratulating me with the words "welcome to the ragged edge of humanity" - heheheh

Well done Felix mate. I had done 2 Lani impression on a coupla brand news spewies in the same period.
So Based on that in another coupla years you'll be on a 08 ZX10RR n smoking Hammer on Tambo.
Riding "Tiggr", getting my son & doctors appointments are the only reasons I've wanted to leave the house in the last 7 weeks.

This one is for bicycle but I guess applies to bikes as well:

A Bicycle Zen Proverb
==============

A Zen teacher saw five of his students returning from the market, riding their bicycles. When they arrived at the monastery and had dismounted, the teacher asked the students, "Why are you riding your bicycles?"

The first student replied, "The bicycle is carrying the sack of potatoes. I am glad that I do not have to carry them on my back!" The teacher praised the first student, "You are a smart boy! When you grow old, you will not walk hunched over like I do."

The second student replied, "I love to watch the trees and fields pass by as I roll down the path!" The teacher commended the second student, "Your eyes are open, and you see the world."

The third student replied, "When I ride my bicycle, I am content to chant nam myoho renge kyo." The teacher gave praise to the third student, "Your mind will roll with the ease of a newly trued wheel."

The fourth student replied, "Riding my bicycle, I live in harmony with all sentient beings." The teacher was pleased, and said to the fourth student, "You are riding on the golden path of non-harming."

The fifth student replied, "I ride my bicycle to ride my bicycle." The teacher sat at the feet of the fifth student and said, "Ahh.... I am your student!"

Knew I could count on ya Neka

well I havent yet ridden a 636 yet mates got one and running it in and after riding the 10 I dont want to cos I know I will want one.
But for my money having ridden a 12 that pumps out 196 at the rear wheel (yes 196 at rear) I still want one of those.
Hondas in my range and the zzr600 just doesnt do it for me anymore after the 10 :(
Plus I like the gel seat thingy dodat on the 600f good for passengers cos I dont like having passenger sitting halfway up my back.
Cant wait till I can take John to school on it one day, maybe for now I just use the ventura pack and stick him in there :)
