New Pads...

Postby icebreaker » Mon Nov 15, 2004 9:32 am

Well I had a look at my pads on the weekend, and there appears to be 1-2mm at most on a couple of them.. There is no way I'll make it through a track day on them.. So looks like I'm up for 2 sets on pads for the front..

Any recommendations?? I wasn't looking to spend HEAPS, but happy to get something if it's abit better then stock.

I have to get them in the next day or two, if I'm going to get them fitted in time..

Thanks

Dan
3 choices in pads
Original equipment...ok but expensive
(Brighton Kwaka don't recommend them coz of cost)
Aftermarket replacement...a bit harder but easy on the discs
and
Aftermarket-hard (sintered) good for the track
but hard on discs and not really good for the road...

I have the aftermarket replacement (bit harder than normal)
on mine..I have used EBC and SBS brands
I prefer SBS, as they don't squeal (the EBC did) and they are
a bit easier on the disc rotors
and still work well at the end of the PI straight!

my 2c

cheers

Rang Brighton Kawa.

Got a price on pads and a Clip on.. Certainly wasn't open to a discount.. Got a 'it's possible'.... makes me wonder why we put them on our shirt..

Anyways here are my options..

EBC 'hh' $62 pair - Brightyon
$57.95pr - Action Motorcycles
EBC (basic ones) $50pr
SBS $58pr

Think I'll duck upto Action and pick them up on my way home. I can't be assed with Brightons attitude.. I spoke to Ken.. Hi it's Daniel here from KSRC... I'm after ................ then I got a price on a clip on, and I asked to we get 10% off ? and he hesitated and then said it can be done or something like that... not worth my time..

Icebreaker,
What pads did you end up using.
I'm using SBS on the front with good results ..... none of the squeeling of the EBC HH pigs.

i've always found the OE ones to be the best.

saying that i'm using sbs on the front at the moment and they seem to feel better than the last set of them i had which were shit.

braking are also good but wear your disks out.

gold-fren?
these are going to be my next "type", uh, they are cheap from a "mate" (best mechanic in Brissy! and they come highly recommended from him as far as material make-up, manufacture, disc wear, etc....)
anyone else hear anything else about these?
