Yeah, the idea is to buy it as I want it from the dealer...get the rack and cowl put on before delivery and then pretty much just ride it for the next 5 years or so. I hope the seat is comfy for 3 or 4 hours...XJ seat is wonderful in that respect...ER5 seat a less desirable perch.

Just the 750. thou' out of budget...especially once the addons are considered...I don't need any more power than the 750 - it's already more powerful than the XJ, which I think has plenty of go...

Nuh-uh, the seat is certainly not comfy for a few hours! The foam is thin, and also as the suspension is only adjustable in the back, this can make for a very hard seat! If you are looking at doing regular long rides on it, look at getting your seat remoulded to suit your backside. :P Felix, I think you are in Ipswich? There is a guy at Capalaba who has a very good name for remoulding seats:

Yeah, out at ippy.

That's a bit disappointing, actually. The foam in the XJ is nearly 4 inches thick :o Makes it really quite comfortable for long stretches. We want to do a tour down to Dubbo next year...maybe I should buy an FJR??

Good news on the gearbox! How did you get them to pay for that one?

Dunno Bonester...but we have gotten good value out of NRMA. Total premiums total around $2000, total of our two claims would be around $8k...
