Talking about shipping...

Postby aardvark » Sun Sep 04, 2005 11:34 am

I'm looking at buying a motor for my bucket racer from a bloke in SE Qld. It's only a little sucker and weight about 40 kg.

I can't get a quote from the Aus. Post site because their calculator only goes up to 20kg.

Anyone know who would be the cheapest transport company to get the sucker to Adelaide?

Thanks RG... Would be good if these companies offered an online quoting system!

It is hit and miss with couriers. Sometimes your best bet is to ring some couriers locally and see what they say. Some of them are grumpy bastards, so ignore them. Others will find a way to help you (especially if they contract for multiple courier services), and you can sometimes be surprised with how cheap it can be.

StarTrack Express normal delivery was around $90 from Melb to Sunshine coast last time I had an order around that size - living out of Metro areas adds a lot to the cost. You can sometimes save a bit of money if you pick it up from the depot, too.
