BNE southside - good rides for a newbie?

Postby rtyuiop » Sat Aug 06, 2005 5:06 pm

Hi all,

Well, I've spent about 3 hours today puttering around my local area, getting used to the new bike and getting a bit of practice in traffic and stuff. I'm thinking tomorrow I might say bugger the practice in traffic and head for a more open road.

Anyone got any suggestions for some interesting roads around here (I'm in Rochedale, but anywhere southside-ish is good)? I'm thinking of maybe heading out towards Mt Cotton.

Not game to go ona group ride yet, I've got enough to concentrate on as it is. But next time you guys head off from Ikea on a weekend I'll try to get down there and say g'day!

i reckon u should try going to the gold coast... its a good easy ride on a good, wide, well surfaced rd.

for a quick blat in ur area, mt petrie rd is good. don't go too fast, speeding is bad! there is an unmarked police car that i've seen there before.

Well when you were "just a slip of a gurl" Miss Tanya. Mr Johnson lived up there in Springwood on the road that goes the way to Daisy Hill. But obviously Steven wa such a "Shit of a kid" that They moved to the coast.

So where'd ya go Danny ?.

Headed up through some bendy back roads to Mt Cotton Rd before heading back down Mt Gravatt-Capalaba for some more time mucking about in traffic around Springwood and Rochedale. Only got an hour and a half to ride in :(.

Good fun, and only scared myself once! Got some target fixation on gravel up ahead when a curve got a little tighter than I expected, and I ended up wider than I wanted to be - all good though :).

Everything came together really well today actually, even managed to get a little bit of speed up around the roundabouts!

just take it easy for a bit danny till you get used to the whole bike thing, dont try for too much too soon.

You really have to practice on the keep tthe head up and keep looking where you want to go beacause if you look at what you dont want to hit thats where you end up.

Just keep going for little rides and stay out of the trafic and it will all be okay, theres nothing quite like the first time you go through a big patch of washed out gravel and come out the otherside shiney side up to make your day. :D
If I rode my bike at the speed of light, what would happen when I switched on its headlights?

If we want to do a quick burl on limited time, we usually head down around Redland Bay/Victoria Pt/Mt Cotton/Carbrook - some nice roads through there.
Cheers,
Anne

the ride to natural arch is nice!!

Good to tear along at break neck speed or to cruise!
