Annual CCJMC Moto Spectacular 8/3/20 Melbourne

I see the CCJMC is holding its main annual event on Sunday of the Labour Day long weekend.
The weather for Sunday looks decent and the Austrian Club in Heidelberg West is a nice venue with good coffee and tucker.

Things were a bit quiet this year. The lack of a loud band was actually a welcome relief.
There are a lot of events (motorcycle and not) competing for attention around this time of year. I would have liked to have got out to the Steamrail Victoria open day at Newport Workshops, or even the annual Steamfest at the National Steam Centre in Scorsby, but I was feeling shithouse all weekend.
Oh well, there was clunky old machinery on display at the CCJMC day in the form of Harleys in the judging line up because, I assume, the display was stuck for numbers. Upon my entering the carpark, I was roped into presenting the GPX in the line up. If I'd known I would have given the engine a squirt with the S100 Engine Brightener.

There were the usual cluster of very nice Z1's, perhaps there is a law requiring them at any classic meet.
However, if you really want to stand out then you need something extra special, like this:

An interesting design frame and very old school.
Putting the rider that far back in the shorter wheelbase (check that short swingarm) should make this bike a wheelie monster.


This time there was a different Suzuki worth seeing:

Back in the late 70's, if you wanted a jap 1000 that handled off the showroom floor, one of these was very high on the shopping list.

Back in them days a front mudguard was designed to keep crap off the engine.

The test of any good bike is wishing you still had it. My only foray into the GS series was a GS400B which proved to be a fine learner bike for a full-size adult (long before LAMS was thought of) and it got me through to a full licence. Since I already had a full car licence I went straight from bike L's to full bike licence, none of that P's bollocks.

Yep it would have been good to still have it along with my 750 waterbottle and my Honda 750 four and the 2 other z900 bikes I sold thank god I kept one of the z900 that I love.Went for my licence on the 750 Suzuki waterbottle certainly no power restrictions in those days and yet I survived.Well only just as I piled the GS1000 into a car.
