GPX fan sensor switch

Postby DEN MONKEY » Sat Feb 18, 2006 1:50 pm

Ok here's the deal. I've had to replace the radiator a while ago with one from the wreckers. Not impressed there I tell ya. Its a 99 model bike and they gave me a 85. Anywho that one shat itself and Ive since been back and got another, same vintage. Not the point of the post but wasnt real happy with the $220 price tag I had to pay for it.

Needless to say none of the fan sensor switches have worked on any of them. Would think paying 220 for one with the switch attached that it should work, right ? Kawasaki is asking $60+ for one. Ebay has turned nothing up.
So I got to figurin there must be an alternative. At the moment I have a switch to turn it on manually but obviously thats getting to be a pain in the arse.

Any suggesttions of any other options or am I forkin out 60 bucks for a new one.

Oh before you ask I called around about the original which took a stone and asked about getting it repaired. I was told by a number of places its simply not worth it. Just shits me to have a 20 year old crappy radiator on a 6 year old bike.
Can I spray it to make it look a bit prettier and is it really not worth looking to repair the original even as a spare.??

Any advice or suggestions are welcome.

I just bought an oil pressure sender "genuine" for $35 odd. I didn't hesitate because there are some things you ABSOLUTELY want to have in pristine condition. I'd shell out the $60 myself, wouldn't dream of getting a second hand one.

Option B looks good, its heaps cheaper than repairing a cooked motor.....

damn...

are u talking gpx250?

can't u just unscrew the old sensor off your broken radiator and put it in the replacement radiator?

i got my replacement zzr250 radiator for $50...

surely a 20 year old radiator isn't worth $220 :? how much is a new one?

Well I wouldnt have a clue? But a new oil cooler for a 12 year old ZZR11 is about $640. A secondhand one $180 from the wreckers but there are never any 11 parts at the wreckers... good sign I recon. I think you got a bargin when you picked up your radiator for that price.

Yeah check for a new one and was looking near $600 bucks.
The original switch was farked and both of the second hand ones were rooted too. So im let with nowt to replace it with shy of getting a new one. SO not happy but thinking it is the safer option. Just pissed about the price for something so damned small and simple. Granted tis quite important.

Oh well thanks for the input guys
