It cost me $300 something from Motorcycle Express because I wanted the bike urgently and all other places had 2 weeks waiting times.

They busted a fork seal, called them up and told them about it, got the 'We'll get back to you' treatment. I've fixed it and I'm over it though.

There are a few other place like Tamex who do it around $200.

That was Brisbane to Sydney.

Just playing devil's advocate though, would you (hidepenny) really want to go buying a bike unseen? You've just had a bad buying experience with the VW Polo that suggests you're not happy when what gets delivered is not what you were expecting.

I'm assuming going by your other posts that you want to ship a bike down here, not ship your bike somewhere else. I'm also assuming you're not that fussy about a specific model, given the fact you're also considering CBR600s as well as ZX6Rs.

If it were me, I'd be buying locally where I get to look over everything myself, test ride it, make sure I'm utterly 100% happy. Are bikes in QLD that much cheaper than here in VIC? Are you wanting to buy one so rare that there's no chance of an identical one coming up for sale in Melbourne some time soon?

Just my two cents.

yeah i know, but i knew 70% of the problems at the start when i tested driving that car, but my gf said they would fix it before delivery, and she insisted she wanted that car, and now she has paid me back all the money, and we just done a full report on the car and she's seeking legal advice from a friend, and gona lodge a complain or a court case or something.

well............i love the green zx6rs, but they are so expensive here in VIC, because the cbr600rr are more common here and hence alittle bit just a little bit cheaper in price with the underseat exhast, that are the only 2 things i like about cbr600rr and that's about it, my gf always tell me to pay $2k more to buy what i want and not to regret. and this zx6r is about $2k cheaper than the market price, and i'm just considering it and find out ways to get it, before i even get machanically with it, if u know what i mean?.................

John, take a look at bikesales or a similar type website sometime, you would be surprised the diference (I think) between Qld price and Vic price, don't know the ins and outs of why exactly, probably stamp duty but that's speculation, Smitty will know, they are QUITE a bit cheaper generally speaking.

I'm sure you do get variations - for example in other states GPX250s don't seem to command the same price premium they do here in Vic, which I think might have something to do with the fact that in NSW and QLD you can ride bikes like CB400s, GS500s and ER5s while on your Ls and Ps.

I was just making the point that in buying anything sight unseen, you are taking a bit of a risk, and hidepenny has only just gone through a bad used car purchase. I'm just saying - consider that risk factor when you're doing the sums. Especially if you (like me) have no DIY mechanic skills, can't fix broken stuff yourself and have to pay someone $$$ when that really cheap '05 ZX6R turns up with a warped cylinder head coz the previous owner thrashed it to buggery, and your mate in QLD who in good faith had a look at the bike for you didn't notice the oil in the coolant before he told you it's a great bike.

Early last year I transported an R6 from Sydney to Brisbane using Ezy Movers (google them). Cost me $330. They service was very professional. The bike left in immaculate condition and arrived in immaculate condition. Their equipment and communication is great and I cannot recommend them highly enough...

However

About 3 months ago I was looking at buying a zx6 from IK and transporting Canberra to Brisbane. Ezy Movers quote was in the high 400's from memory. I called Motorcycle Express (krustys) the quote was almost $150 cheaper (sorry cant remember exact amounts).

These are the only 2 companies I have dealt with. Depends how much you want to spend, I know my R6 turned up in perfect condition so if thats what the extra $$$ is worth then go with them. I see up above here somewhere that someone had damage done to their bike with Motorcycle Express?
