it's funny you should mention honda's... :D

That magazine study you posted is actually old.. :) A few of the models listed with other brands are discontinued..

and why ppl buy them nfi.. cheap i suppose? We've sold about 100 since i've been there and had at least 10 come back.. that's 10 percent.. and it's things like the side plates breaking and visors flying off (and these are only the ones i know about).. and I don't want to do that cos the one i fixed tonight stunk.. like seriously stunk  almost as bad as the owner :toimonster:

All i was trying to say is that they're cheap and for the money better helmets are to be had :)

I've only sold one to someone i know, and that's cos they wanted a cheap commuting helmet and they're ok for that. Like i said horses for courses, I have a good helmet, and after a good quality helmet you can feel how cheap they actually are. I tried on the 1000 (product knowledge :P) and it lasted about 1 second..

who sells the 1200 ?

never seen one...

apples with apples mr madkaw :)

I'm just telling you the experiences I have had with them, if you got a good one, that's good. I hope you like it :)

Side plates are $10 a pair (we keep them in stock) .. and side vents are $7 (roughly)

Not having owned any previous "quality" helmets and being new to this motorcyling thing, I really shouldn't comment then.... :?

BTW, they have a removable liner so the stinky repair was probly due to owner abuse... :-)

The 1200 is just an update of the 1000 with new graphics and different vents..

BTW, I'm in no way suggesting they are the best helmet on the market..
I just don't think blanket "Don't buy one there crap" statements are fair.
Especially as there are those of us that do actually own one may tend to disagree...

If ppl were to go along with those sort of comments your shop would get no business as similar statements have been made about them. and we wouldn't want that...

The AGV you recommend is nearly twice the price of the Nitro 1000, and the test I posted was done in May 05, ...

As I said
"In similar fashion to the tyre thread where no one was an expert, so I posted some test results by experts, then everyone who disagreed with the results suddenly became experts. I will do the same and expect the same... "

We all know what opinions are like... and we all know what experts are....

Each to there own....

Nuff said.....

Mark,

That Green HJC FG-12 Crevier helmet I bought while you and Nath were over is a treat. The little brown varmit still looks like a turd ...lol

Oh and did ya still want the gloves I completely forgot, or ya gunna look at going out to Ken's when ya over here? Cos I'll be over that way next week.

Cheers Mate

had a bell motox helmet when i was a young fella.....was good, when i got my first roadie i bought an arai giga, was the ducks nuts in helmets at the time, & was the first helmet that you could change the visor without a screwdriver...WOW!!!!!! i bought it off my sister who wore it once & found out she was pregnant so didn't get on the bike again. I had it for over 10 years  (i kno, shame on me) but i was off bikes for a bit in that stint as well. Now i got a shoei xr1000....AWESOME BIT OF KIT!!! never realised how much your head gets buffeted about by wind till i got the shoei...smooth as & quiet, also a much better fit for me noggin, now if i put the old arai on it feels like my forehead is in a vice. Make sure you get a pretty TIGHT fit. the first couple of rides you want to nearly be thinking "fuk, this thing is tooo tight" but foam moulds & compresses. the last thing you want is to spend hard earned $ on something that will flop around like a cock in a sock in 2 months time

Mick, the gloves were for a friend but no need for them now........but I will be heading into Kens when i'm over.

In general re this thread,
I didn't by the Nitro in the end......it was more a personal thing that in 6 months if I had an issue I didn't want to be going and buying another helmet cause you can't get them any more....i understand that them pulling out of OZ is a bussiness decision, but that doesn't help the poor guy who bought the lid that was quality tested after a Friday pub lunch:lol: FWIW I actually don't think the Nitro's are too bad at all. In the end I went with what i know.....when I bought my first KBC VR-1 I said it was the best helmet for me, not the best on the market....so when a second one came up at the right price I got it.
Everyone of us has a different view and for that matter a different head, otherwise there would only be one brand out there and we'd all wear it. For me the KBC was it, didn't come down to price in the end and rant and rave as much as anyone likes, it meets and exceeds the AUS Standards, just like a Shoei, Arai, NItro or M2R

vive la difference :P
