Blue Slip Question in relation to Mufflers\Cans

Sat Feb 18, 2006 1:41 pm

Hey guys. Im Hoping on getting my ZXR registered next week ( YAY the project is finally finished) I was planning on getting a standard muffler for it so the guys didn't have anything to pick on me about. But unfortuatley this fell through. So now I have only got the Carbon Fibre Yoshi.
Are the blueslip guys strict in relation to aftermarket cans?
If they are is it only a noise thing as I can make a pretty big bung for it to quiten it right down but it will have no power. will this suffice?
Or does it have to be a standard pipe

I can only suggest that you put a bung in it for rego purposes, to keep it quiet, and live with the power loss for a few hours.....even though it is a carbon can, as long as it is quiet, you *shouldn't* have any major dramas.....Good luck.

Go the bung I reckon, if you can put it in you can take it out too

One you have rego/rw papers then you can go about setting things back to "normal" :D

  years and years ago, when we had annual rego checks by the rego Nazi's, it was not *uncommon* to try and quieten your bike down before a rego check.........one of my mates used a big rolled up piece of chookwire....... well, it muffled the sound fine .......in his driveway......of course after the ride to the rego station, well it had loosened up a *bit*.........a tiny piece hangin' out the 'zorst was enough to alert the rego Nazi........." Rev her up to 4 grand mate...."...........and WHOOMPA out the pipe comes the chook wire.........and about another 30 decibels........ :x .

Mate any chance you could trailer it to get a blue slip.

Im 90% sure you dont have to start your bike for a blue slip (or even a pink slip) you just have to show that your lights, blinkers, horn etc work. All this can be done wit hyour ing on and engine not running.

I had to start my bike for the blue slip, i got it done at a place that can pink and blue slip bikes but is actually a car workshop, that way they have nothing to gain in knocking u back...

mine has a yoshi slip on and it got through fine :D

EDIT: im on the NSW side of the border so yeah dont think 'but you are on the GC' cause im actually in NSW and my bike is NSW reg
