Depends what style of riding you like. It really doesn't matter where you go, the roads in Tassie are like doing 1000klms of the Reefton/Putty (the 11k bit in the middle) the snowies/the old road/or maybe glorious for u banana inserters!
Some must see's
1. Straun (spelling) Nice ride down and very pretty spot. And the road from here to Hobart is a cracker.
2. Queenstown (the road is awesome as long as yr not scared of 800metre drop offs

)
3. Port Arthur (not for the roads, for the history, it's awesome-allow 3/4 of a day to see it properly.)
The rest you can make up as you go along. I have been to cradle mountain, but for the life of me couldn't get all juiced up about it like others have????? I thought it was just so so. But go see for yrself, you may like it.

I have been to Tassie.
About 2 weeks after ur planned trip, but 8 years ago. It was rather chilly.
Anyhow, from Devonport, go to the RACT office, just round the corner, they will provide you with a map, then head through to Launceston.
From there you head up a road, can't remember the name, but you are heading towards St Helen's. This road is very twisty and provides much enthusiasm. If u r on the right road u will come to a lookout, stop there for a breather and an aweswome view.
Continue along this road towards Pyneganah (spelling), and u should pass a small Caltex servo. Be wary a few k's on, as there is a corner where several people come to grief, (me and a mate included), keep going and you will get to St Helen's by early to mid afternoon, depending on how much scenery you take in.
Keep going in that direction for ur planned stay and u will have a great time

Theres heaps of great roads here in Tassie, some of which I still havent managed to see yet. However, I can highly recomend the Lake Leake road (Campbell Town to Swansea), Swansea to Hobart (East Coast), Launceston to Scottsdale (The Sidling) and down through Derby, St Helens etc, also Elephants Pass. (Great Pancakes there too!!!!). Dont know much about the West Coast as havent been there. The road out through Deloraine, Mole Creek, Moina, and up past Cradle Mountain are fantastic, as is the road through Hellyer Gorge which isnt far away! The Frankford Highway isnt too bad either (Devonport to Launceston), but be careful of COPS!!!!!
Hope this has been helpful to you, ENJOY your ride, but please be careful of damp patches on some roads as not all of them get enough sunlight!!!!

Mate, that's relatively boring isn't it?
Oh and do be careful riding around down in Tassie. the roads are not as well sign posted as QLD/NSW/VIC. There are several corners that will catch you out. They tend to do things like change direction and radius over the crests of hills and fun stuff like that.

And the odd hairpin that is not marked at all.

So take it handy, and take nice wide entries to open up the turns.

Oh and watch out for bloody tin top toursists. There are lots of old codgers doing the whole lap o Tassie deal, stopping to look at every blade of grass. They do shit like just stop in the middle of the road blocking both lanes. Then they lok like you have two heads when you tell them off.

Seriously though, a group 20 mates went down a while back, and lost 5 bikes on the trip!

Damn right... I almost wrote off a rental car coming over a non-signposted crest to find a 90 degree right hand bend 30 metres ahead...
