Can someone suggest where the best place would be to get insurance on my bike? I was thinking just other driver and fire n theft? But if full comphrehensive isnt much more than I will go with that. Just cant make any sense of any of the searches I've done with google.

Arista are another cheap option if you're over 40. Failing that, Swann, Shannons or Western QBE are your best bets.

I just got full comp from suncorp for $560, rating 1 but I had to get out of the chair and grab my helmet on their first offer "INSULT" I went through a bike shop cause I'm lazy but I got a $300 excess so that's good. Watch the excess, that's as important as the yearly I recon.

get quotes from NRMA and AAMI. NRMA cover helmet for free to the value of $500. AAMI were the cheapest for me on my gpx.

Depends on age etc... I just did the big research thing and for me, QBE worked out the best...

what sorta bike funkster?
I have "classic car insurance".... cheapest by far than anyone else for "full comp" ($450 for the year on my little steed)
I'm scared how they will be in the event I need them, but I read and re-read all their fine print (been with them for over a year now) and it seems identical to my old NRMA policy.....
i hate insurance.

We have both bikes covered on the one policy with Suncorp. I have got a quote from Shannons which was a fair bit cheaper for my bike, but as Jeff commutes on his, the premium was much higher than Suncorp. So, it looks as though we will be staying with them. Having said that, when we made a claim in September, they were very easy to deal with, and very convenient, esp, as the assessment centre is just down on Logan Rd....around the corner from us! In my mind, as places like Arista and Swann don't have a shop front, this might make them less convenient to deal with?
cheers
