Thoughts on VN250 Eliminator

Sun Jan 08, 2006 9:56 am

Guys I am interested in buying a VN250 Eliminator as my first bike. What are peoples thoughts on this ?

Also I have a question regarding mods for it in the Engine, gearbox section
if you could also have a look at that.

Thanks

Tommo :D

Tommo , a friend of mine had a similar bike in the suzuki range called Maruader not much different to the VN.
Well he was happy with it for about 5-6 months while he did his L's and P's after that he could'nt stand all the other 250's overtaking him.so he now owns a ZZR250
which maybe you should have a look at and dont spend too much $$$ on your first bike.
good luck

ps
theres a pic of the Maruader below in link I think
ZZR250 is the better bike.

Mate dont do it, if it's a gift fix it up for your Nana, otherwise you'll be kicking yourself about wasting coin you could of spent on a sports bike.

Would be like trying to extract more power from my vacume cleaner....they are designed to go slow and although i havnt actuall ridden one the undercarriage would be scraping at the first sign of a corner.

ZZR 250 is the go or a zxr250 as ponti said ones a four cylinder ones a twin and they are great for comuting till you can get onto something bigger.

off course if you want to go down the cruiser road there fine but the bigger cruisers would have trouble keeping up with a zzr250.

If your going to go that way I had a XVS 250 V-Star Yamaha cruiser, i'm 175cms and 83 kilos, it was used to travel regularly to Adelaide from Mildura (400ks), it never gave me a problem and was actually a fun bike to ride, they usually don't badge them as 250's so average joe can be made to beleive they are much bigger bikes, biggest thing with them is women are more likely to get on the back of one of these than the ZZR250 or ZXR250.

Thanks for your help. Actually I went shopping this morning and I saw a ZZR250 (sold though :( ) And I think I may buy one of them instead.

I know of one that is going to be for sale in a while. A 1999 ZZR250, 20,000 for $4500. Do you think that the price is right or not?

Thanks

Tim

thats about right on the money I think. I recently bought a gpx250r 98 model with 29000k's for $4000. There is a 1994 zzr250 in the paper here for $3800 with 23000k's on the clock. in pretty good nick :)
