V8 Kawasaki

Fri Jan 06, 2006 3:58 pm

Some of you may have already seen the articles on Allan Milyards 'Amazing Creations', these photos are for those who have yet to see what can be knocked up in 'literally' a backyard shed  .

In 1996, Allan built his first '5 cylinder' triple, using a KH250, with 2 additional cyclinders, to create a 415cc 'special', like no other. He has since gone on to produce a number of other 'specials' based on the Kwakka triple range - my favourite being a 750/3, that had 1 additional cyclinder added to produce a 1000/4 'triple'  - sold to a Japanese collector.

The bike below is a Z900-based V8. This is an amazing rig, constructed almost entirely of second-hand and donated bits......the camchain is a single-run, over 5' long  , the cams in the rear head run backwards......can you imagine setting the cam timing for this baby :x .

The blocks are perfectly in line - not offset as per a normal V8 - to do this, he machined his own liners, then off-set the bores, and fitted Z650 pistons.....this means that the conrods are side-by-side, however due to the offset bores, the barrels can be perfectly aligned......the guy is an absolute genius.

The last photo is a Z1300-based V12 - this bike has also been since completed

:D the 'quoted' hp in the article was *approx* 130......he reckons with a bit of work on exhausts and 2 banks of carbies, he could easy pull 145.

But for ease of use, etc, he stuck with a single bank of carbies, its easier to start etc  ( this is the V8 I am referring to...).

capacity is 1600cc due to use of 62mm z650 pistons.....

Hoffy - would like to see some more photos of the V12 if you have them...

Man that guy is good. I'll bet they run pretty smooth. Not too heavy either like a Boss Hoss. I''d like to have one of his creations.....NICE

I dunno, those bikes look a bit puny and underpowered for my liking. How about this one - also based on Kawasaki triples:

48 cylinders - total displacement 4200cc (that's about what a Honda Goldwing runs these days isn't it?)
