looking for track bike

Tue Sep 13, 2005 3:40 pm

damaged bike auction tomorrow. been out and had a look at this one. it appears the best of the kwakas avail.

any ideas what i should expect it too sell for. appears to have only cosmetic damage to left hand side. as far as i can see there is no marks/damage on the frame. forks look straight. clutch lever pulls straight in so i guess the lines broken somewhere.

kms are pretty high and you cant start them so i guess that is a gamble.

any ideas or just too risky???????

Greg
check out Redbook prices..they will give you a guide..
so
http://www.redbook.com.au

I would go no more than 70% of the trade price
coz that allows for repairs, conversion to a trackie
(lockwiring slicks raceglass etc)

otherwise
check out AMCN..they always have track bikes advertised for sale

hth

cheers

I went to the fowles auctions in brisbane and the prices for wrecks where silly, make sure you dont pay the same price as you would for one in good nick.

Its probably worth 3 grand tops but I would reckon it might go for 4 1/2 to 5 and by the time someone sticks fairings on it and tidys it up they paid 6 for it.

And you would probably pay the same price for one at a private sale anyway.

Yeah I would definitely recommend buying an already-converted track bike, there are plenty around, some go quite cheap, and it means less work for you.

I agree with Hemi, shop around for an already converted bike.
The red book is a guide worth while looking at only for standard bikes/cars
and you can forget this guide at an Auction.

At moment in NSW Auction price's are high.
