I want to ride and I have no bike. Just thought I'd share my woes. What do you do when your baby is in the shop? -J.

Mike is on the money , take the pushy out for a spin . Try front wheel stoppies on the MTB . Lock up slides on gravel tracks . Stationary balancing acts at traffic lights . Monos up gutters . A bit of adrenalin can be had and keep some cheap two wheel action happening till your toy comes home .

I'm afraid of bicycles. I haven't ridden a bicycle in 15 years.

I just about fell off a pushbike recently, not having ridden one since I first got my 250. I jumped on, and there's a hill of about 800 metres that goes through a couple of curves, then there's a turn I have to take which sends me up a sharp hill.
It all flowed very nicely until I realise the throttle was stuck. Wobble, losing speed, wobble, losing balance, wobble *ding* light goes on in my head... pedal boy, pedal!!
My brain was in motorbike mode... just goes to show how much of your riding is automatic.

raffiki, sounds like a crook battery to me. Sticka new one in and you'll probably find that it will be ok.

thats what i thought too but i had been riding for a good few hours that day and it just died all of a sudden in the evening, like the alternator kicked the bucket or something?
oh yeah and the headlights started to go dim (thought it was the city lights getting brighter

) and 20mins later that happened.
i dunno, i just want my bike back

Pm me.
Cheers Brett

Sounds more like the alternator is kaput. Which lead to a flat battery. This would explain why you were lucky enough to get another start and a short ride before it stopped again.
With a working alternator the motor will continue to work even without a battery at all (depending on the wiring obviously).
