Kangaroo Valley

Postby MrStompy » Wed Feb 22, 2006 9:39 pm

Hello

Going for a spin through Kangaroo Valley tmw (in NSW).

Just wondering if anyone knows if I am better off going from Berri or from Nowra. Which road is more interesting?

Thanks

The road from Nowra (first roundabout from the north) is a ripper, a little slow in places and can be a bugger if theres traffic. I was up there just after christmas and there have been some improvements to the road particularly the edge & fencing.

You can also go from jambaroo turnoff opposite the kiama turnoff, that was always fun, but I've not been up that way in about 2 years.

Have fun.

Dont worry Matchan you really didnt miss very much today.

So i left sydney and rode to nowra and met some mates.

we then went up through kangaroo valley to moss vale.

It must of been quitting time for every dump truck in NSW cause we got caught behind a shit load of them.
we basically had to crawl all the way up the hill. You would get around one to then get caught behind his mate...

It was a very slow trip to moss vale. We tried stopping and waiting but they just kept coming.

at moss vale said goodbye to one bloke to had to go back home and we went back to sydney via illawarra highway/mac pass.

there we found the rest of the dump trucks and tonnes of traffic so once again was a pretty slow ride. To top it off it started raining (atleast it didnt rain too long - just long enough to make it slippery).

I didnt want to go out there and break any records but going fast enough to get the bike on a lean in the corners would have made it atleast interesting.

The biggest insult though was getting stuck behind an empty cattle truck for about 1 k and getting little pieces of cow shit all over the bike and leathers.

So i had a shocker today.
oh well what can you do huh? they cant all be awesome rides...

Yeah, my oldest boy goes to boarding school out at forbes (NSW) heaps of livestock out that way, you don't want to get stuck behind the truck on they highway on the bike or in a car, bloody sheep pellets are like a machine gun at 100kph

Better luck with the next one Stompy
