I know it's a Yamaha. ...but in prospective. :o

Not bad eh?

I've seen people who have scraped their pegs on the road lay their bike until the peg touches the ground to see how far they lean.
The problem is that the suspension isn't compressed while stationary, which gives a false representation of the lean angle.

But if you actually work out the lean angle in degrees and apply it, then you get what Yamaha have done.
Fffffaaaaark!

Yep - there is a fair bit of suspension compression during lean - calculated purely mathematically
ANGLE - FACTOR (Factor is the what to times the weight of bike and rider by to compress the suspension the same amount)
45 - - - - - 1.41
50 - - - - - 1.55
55 - - - - - 1.74
60 - - - - - 2.00
65 - - - - - 2.37

So at a 60 deg lean your suspension is a compressed as if you had another BIKE AND RIDER strapped to your back at standstill.

This is why hanging off the bike works - by moving the centre of gravity away from the centreline of suspension force you reduce the compressive forces on the suspension and replace it with a sideways component on the tire contact patch (a bit more like a car tire turning).

So the pic is cool from a visual perspective only.

Sorry - beware a bored engineer...
