Loan for bikes

Postby Basslover » Thu Apr 12, 2012 10:04 am

Hey guys

Do you guys get loans to afford your bikes or do you pay for them out right.

If you get loans does your bank class it as a personal loan or vehicle loan.

Cheers guys

It depends on the person I would say, I personally have a loan, check out www.natloans.com.au that have a specific bike loan and so far they have treated me well :-)

Thing is when you state vechicle loan the bank or finance company will make you fully insure it so if it gets bingled you can pay your debt but i new a bloke who got a personel loan went out bought a car, didnt insure it and run of the road and hit some smallish trees and wrecked it.It was only a 10,000 car but he ended up with no car and a loan to pay off plus had to find more money for another car and wasn't it a shit bomb

Loan for bikes

Postby HeWasANinja » Thu Apr 12, 2012 9:19 pm

Well I took out finance for my ninja 250 which I bought in 2010 brand new... Great little bike and at the time it was the right thing to do however once I wanted to sell it I had to pay out the remaining finance before I could sell it so that was a pain in the neck.... The zx6r I own now I paid for in cash and it's much better knowing that there's no money owing on it.. It's my hard earned cash and that makes me love it even more.. :)

i got a personal loan for my bike and not finance because

i asked for the monthly admin fee ($7.00) to be waved if i got loan protection ($4.00 a week)
i could sell the bike at any time without needing to pay the loan in "full" before the next owner would take ownership.(finance = incumbered vehicle)
no need for comprehensive insurance.
pay the loan off at anytime early.

when you get finance for a car or bike or anything for that matter.
finance company owns the bike till the life of the finance is up and paid in full.

if you default on payment, cannot pay the rest of the loan or any other reason to void the contract they seize the bike and sell it at auction for what ever price and you will be taken to court and made to pay the loan and additional cost incurred.

Quite a few banks won't accept a motorcycle as "security" so check that out first, my loan is unsecured but I wouldn't ride around without full comp insurance...

comes down to personal circumstances, myself i aint one to have debts hanging over head so have paid for every vehicle i have bought in full (hard to dodge the home loan though).

Plus you get a good response from the dealer if you show him the evelope with $13K in it ur prepared to hand over for a good deal......and with doing that i got $1700 off the price for 2009 zx6R with only 4km's on the clock

There's also occasional humour, and pisstaking. All part of what makes this a relaxed and awesome place. I also think "get off your mum's boob" is valuable advice, and I for one might take it on.
