Pre-Provisional tips anyone? / P's now achieved

Postby Trox » Tue Jun 21, 2011 10:18 pm

Had a quick look and couldn't find  .

Pre-provisional course and MOST booked for 23/7/11 :kuda: checked wheel skills site for more info, looks easy enough but I could be deceived. Can someone tell me;

1. How tight's the 90deg left turn is in the 1st(&2nd) test?
2. How far apart are the cones in the cone weave?
3. Is there really anything to be concerned about for a rider of average/normal ability (wouldn't think so :? )?

BTW has anyone come up with a good way to attach your "come follow me mr policeman" plate  to your bike, atm I use the magnetics cause they're flexible and then drill 2 holes in it and attach to the bolts of the no. plate

Thanks :)

1.cant remember the 90 degree turn, but its not that hard...
2.the cones on the cone weave are far enough apart that i could do them on a ZX6r... in the morning when they get you to practice they will place the cones closer together than for the real test in the afternoon...
3.your biggest hurdle will be nerves, so dont stress yourself out...

You have a month... Heaps of time! The U turn I think was within 5m. All I did was find a quiet street, practice about 8 uturns within the 5m radius a few days a week and within a couple of weeks it was easy. Then I found the MOST test easy and actually didnt spend the day nervous but rather learning from the instructor. Good Luck :D

Pre-Provisional tips anyone?

The test detail was on the RTA site, Kevin and I went and taped it all out in a carpark.

Thanks guys, :kuda:
thought it might be much like that. Wheels Skills says the u-turn is 6.1 metres, which is quite easy.
The quick stop seams quite easy too 20kmh - 2.8m, 25kmh - 4m, 30kmh - 5.8m (with other intervals inbetween)

I might still have a little practice but sounds like it's nothing to worry about. Remembering head checks appears to be the hardest but I think I am and will be fine with that. 8)

It can be done on a Ninja 250 - even one with a busted clip on! So no excuses!

1. Heaps of revs
2. Tonnes of rear brake
3. Set your speed early on
4. Turn your head and look where you want to go.
5. RELAX!
Pink on the outside, but still green on the inside!

ya get plenty of time to practice the maneuvers and they'll give ya tips, show ya what ya need to do n stuff, just remember not to put a foot on the ground and don't run over the cones :) also keep in mind its better to look further out in front than staring at the ground in front of the wheel :D

practice practice practice! :kuda:

Well it may have been wet and miserable today but I completed the day/MOST without a hitch :supz: I didn't practice very much before but it was prolly enough to go in with just the right amount of confidence ;)
I went and got P plates at lunch break today in preparation to put them on this evening then realised that the RTA isn't open until Monday to have my photo taken

Anyway thanks heaps guys :kuda:
