hey guys, just joined. Got a broken arm - typing a bit dodgy,

looking at getting a bike - always loved the look of hte eddie lawson thing - y'knoe, green n upright - didn't realise what it really was until i came here and looked about.

question: is this just plain crazy for a bloke who has never ridden a bike b4?

shit thi hurts!

if i like that sort of thing - style of bike - colour n stance - but u think the ZRX is just too much for me as a newbie, what would u suggest as a starter bike?

where do i go to find a ZRX - or a starter versiuon of it..

many thanks - in Bris.

Legally - what is your licence status. If you have a full licence then yes you can legally ride. If learner then need to go through the LAMS thingy.

Ability wise - This is the biggie...are you a good driver? If not then you probably wont be a good rider. By good I don't mean fast. Anyone can drive fast in a straight line. What I mean is are you smooth on the controls and *feel* what the car is doing under you. I had only previously ridden 175 trail bikes and a 250 road bike round town about 20 years ago. Bought a GPX750 and soon came to riding at a modest pace. After a few months progressed to a ZX9 and can ride that at modest pace and stay upright.

The biggest thing with these bikes is that things happen so quick - drop the clutch and you can turn it over backwards or accelerate when grip is low you can loose the back end. Hit the brakes too hard and lock the front up and fall down.

Not trying to put you off but these beasts can bite you hard or give you a real buzz...and there is a very fine line between these.

There are plenty of very good riders here who can help with knowledge and frequent rides where you can gain experience from these as well.

Get it right and you can have heaps of fun...I have so far. :kuda:

PS Welcome

Just out of curiousity, how many people do you know that would admit they are a shit driver? Yet to see one personally..
