Good ways to clean tyre

Postby kevindinho » Fri Dec 11, 2009 7:36 pm

Hey people!

What are some good ways/products to get grease and crap off your tyre? Think i flung some lube and shit on it. I don't have any drifting experience on a motorcycle so i thought ill clean it and make sure i'm safe hehe.

Cheers
Kev

CT-18 is certainly the goods, at least for plastics. Never really tried using them on tyres. Though if talking fairings i have found some of the kitten stuff incredibly good on the body if you overdo it on the concentration a bit.

I've used the citrus based stuff to get rid of road/brake grime from the rims. You can get it from golo and bunnings and it does a bang up job of cleaning road grime off the rims. Perhaps that followed by ct18?

wipe the tyre down with a rag soaked in fuel, the road will take care of the rest.

CT18 is on the caustic side so don't put it near aluminium. Caustic substances dissolve the Bauxite in aluminium and alloys, even annodized surfaces. Annodizing will not protect from caustic degredation because anodizing is nothing more than a controlled form alluminium oxidization that is color dyed. Raw black ABS plastic dislikes it also.
Use Dishwashing liquid its PH neutral will remove most things - bugs, oil etc and wont damage anything.

Have a closer look at a 10+ year old truck next time your at the lights and see what truckwash does to paint and bodywork.
I got a sweater for my birthday. I realy wanted a moaner or a screamer.
