Finally legal to terrorise cagers!

Postby d00nson » Thu Nov 19, 2009 10:00 am

Hey all. Finally got my L's on Wed. Blitzed through it in 7mins - 45/45!!!. Apparently that's some kind of record. The RTA guy insinuated that I was cheating - I just replied "you just don't know how badly I wanna get on my bike!". I wanted to add "and you obviously don't ride" but I didn't want undue delays on my license being issued :P

So gonna spend the weekend getting used to the bike and then watch out Sydney!

I work in St Leonards and live in Maroubra so if anyone wants to go for a ride PM me!

Gotta concur with Rob, check your mirrors and blind spots regularly, keep your eyes peeled for the blokes that don't use stop/give way signs/indicators/brakes/accelerator and then watch your 3 second gap dissappear regularly as some cager decides that's enough room for me to slip in. That should give you enough to last you thorugh day one, from there it's just a matter of time and you get some roadsense and then you'll know which cage to watch for in particular, watch them all in general :)
A good mate will bail you out of jail, a true mate will be sitting in the cell next to you saying "Damn, we fucked up!!!"

Where abouts? I'm on Herbert Street. There are a few of us around St Leonards - maybe we need a lunch club!
Congrats by the way and take it easy on those cagers :D

Haha. Cheers guys and thanks for the tips... I got lucky and scored a really good instructor for my pre-L's so he set me straight. Rode it to work today and people were generally courteous and give you heaps of space (prob the big yellow L tattooed to the bike). Gonna go check out the bike show this Sunday but old Pacific Hwy but I'm all ears for any ride days after that!
Ali...I'm on Atchison St near the IBM tower. So a stone's throw away.
