Maybe a silly question

Postby moguai » Thu Jan 22, 2009 9:43 am

Hi All,

This may be a silly question and if it is it's only because im a bit ignorant on the topic.

As i mentioned in my introduction thread im currently on my P's, and will be until April this year. I already have my next bike sitting in the garage, but have no intention of riding it as i put too much time and effort into my license to risk losing it.

I was just wondering though (i kind of heard something through hear-say) whether i would be allowed to ride the 600 on a track? I'm not actually a good enough rider to warrant "track riding" but i just want to confirm that i'm actually comfortable riding this bike before i go ahead and spend the money respraying it. I'm fairly confident i will, but just want to make sure. Preferably i don't want to race it, i just want to spend a bit of time on it to get a feel for it without losing my license.

Once again if this was a "stupid question" i will accept many "stupid answers" which make fun of me.

Pretty much :)

The track isn't a normal public road. So technically you can ride any bike you like ON the track, just not TO the track

P.S. There's no such thing as a silly question if it helps you!

I got this response when i asked eastern creek this question last year......

To ride at Eastern Creek you do need to hold a license, L's, P's full or anMA license. With L's and P's you need to be riding a bike that you would be licensed toride on the road. Hmmmmm mixed responses here.

Wouldn't dream of riding it to the track. Got a husband to do that, it would be good for him to do something useful.

Seems like eastern creek is a no-no. Anyone know of anywhere else? Preferably somewhere very very quiet :)

Forget about the MA Licence. Its $265 from memory and you dont need it. Ive been on a zx10 doing ride days for the last 6 months and have 5 months to go. Hence I got one for the year.

Officially they will say you need a licence for the bike but they never check. Book a ride day at Eastern Creek and get some experience on the 600 before getting on the road! Book the slowest group and youll be fine. But be aware you need full leathers etc...

If your really concerned then wait until April and do a trackday then. Have your first run on the 600 at the track before you do the bodywork. Im already booked for April 13th at Eastern Creek so you wouldn't be on your own. And I dare say by then another 5-10 will be booked too! Yeah its a bit of cash but I reckon if your wanting to open the wrist and get a feel for the bike before riding on our crazyville roads its the way to go! After my first session on the 10 from riding a 250 well lets just say :D and since then I cant stop :D

Just put 250 on the form when you book in, they don't check your licence and your bike at the same time that I've seen ;).
