Things happen fast in my world!

Postby tim » Sat Jan 24, 2009 11:17 pm

Ok, things happen fast in my world sometimes! Once I take to something, I don't muck around and me and bikes seem to be like ducks and water.

Grabbed a couple of pairs or kevlar jeans, mates loaner jacket, a back protector, boots, gloves and a helmet.

What I've done so far:

Somewhere between 200 and 300kms in 3 days around blacktown/hills district/rouse hill in 3 days.

Involving:
3 goes and a Few hours of Industrial areas and local backstreets getting the real basics down. (seven hills/norwest/northmead/quakers hill.
A couple of hours of car park work (braking/turning/dropping off gutters/hill starts/circles etc)
Some repetitive corner practice in industrial areas, looking up the road, trying to use peripheral vision.
3 night rides
Plenty of traffic
2 rides worth of VERY windy riding(so strong today out at Rouse Hill). Scared the shit out of me to start with, I had no idea it was that intense on a bike...... they were bordering on gail strength today.
As a result i can say I'm pretty confident now with the basics, but I know I need to work more on lots still, and stay vigilant and focused every minute of my rides.
8)
AND REMEMBER TO TURN THE BLINKER OFF!
:?
Won't do The Old Road yet, I've well and truly used up my $10, and I've gotta go back to work and commute all this week so I need to have a rest sunday.

Tim.

ps, ran out of fuel because switch was on RES. :) Trap for young players.

good on you tim, the bliker thing will come natural soon you wont even think of turning it off, you just do it!!!
Thats great work and great practice riding around in industrial areas and car parks, I was always doing that each night after work practicing my skills, try and start doing your utrurns in 2 car parking spaces, pretty much perfect size for when you do your test.
The wind is a bitch isnt it , haha riding home from arndell park each day its always blowing a gail, I try and stay away from the great western hwy and go through rooty hill way to get home{not as windy}
And the reserve tap is a bitch when your starting out, i remember always forgeting {sometimes still do} to turn it back to normal.
Anyways happing riding and hopefully get up to the old road for some fun
Safe riding

Once my bike is fixed (should be done within the next couple of weeks) i will organise a day off to work to tag along! That's if i can organise my 1000k service in time! Wind on the Harbour Bridge and the Anzac Bridge can be really scary time times, i have struggled to keep in my lane numerous times, bit crazy!

ahh didn't think about that, I've probably got it relatively easy with 180kg worth of 500 sitting under me.

sure is! I refuse to ride in windy weather over those bridges, i'm abit paranoid i'll get thrown off the edge! I've tried leaning in the opposite direction but that only works sometimes before the wind changes and i get thrown back the other way. something i will have to work on! or put on a hell lot of weight!

yeh i think another 10-15gs would be a bad idea lol, and it wouldnt do much anyway, you would still be pushed around, that is the one problem that us 250 riders have to live with, plus it gives us great practice.

I have a shade over 200 kilo's of bike and i STILL get blown around quite badly on the bridge. I don't know if you do it, but i go over the Cahill Expressway via the bus lane. Makes for an interesting ride when one second your compensating for the wind blasting you, and the next your protected by a pylon & back again 0.5 second later on.

I fell off the first bike I sat on (it was sationary at the time - not the cupboard full of pens can't spell today). THEN....the day I finished paying off my used ZX2R - I dropped it...with me on it...well under it.

I completely agree, first learner bike should come pre-worn in places :)

I like first bike stories...more more more
