What is it about riding you like the most?

I have always wanted to ride just never got the chance in life. Lets put it down to bad but rewarding luck that has delayed it all. Now that I am older wiser and cashed up I can enjoy some of the fruits of my labour. I always wanted to be as my brother in law says one with my bike when your on the bike your one with the bike.

I am a keen moto GP follower as well which is my passion for sports bikes thus not being a honda LAMS lover ( I really dont like naked bikes full stop).

I selected the RL as most people recomended a 500+ bike for the Canberra to Sydney rides that I wanted to do when I lived there. I liked the RL for the riding position and kept a wide birth away from Hyo's they look nice there cheap but... Well lets no go there with rest we all know about the.
SO while I get my practice up and learn to ride ( I am a netrider user as well and do the MLB practice sessions as well) My 1st makor ride will be in Nov MLB to Canberra.
Still need some experince and some toys for the trip( rad guard, soft paniers or big bag to tie down for the trip) this is the sort of riding I plan to do but wont go down the cruiser path. I may do the naughty thing on my RL once I loose my looser Yellow plate and have the screw fall off but to be honest after 900kms I dont think I need to I get to speed really well the bike loves 100km/h on the Monash.

Great to hear you’ve now got the chance to follow up on a dream. Touring is great fun and you’ll meet plenty of awesome people along the way. There are plenty of people on here who love touring and have a wealth of knowledge.

900kms is a great start. I dont find Hwy Kms much fun and tend to source out scenic and twisty roads and points of interest along the way. My 73,000 in just over 3 years includes everything from GOR, Snowies, Adelaide Hills and stacks more (all numerous times).. Our country has the most awesome places to see and roads to ride.

While your learning get in and do some night riding and when you can wet road riding as well. You will learn heaps getting out and doing it, but every little bit counts.

RE bags/accessories, there’s heaps of info on the forum.. I have a soft 18ltr Andy Strapz bag http://www.andystrapz.com but I tour naked on a Zed thou, trading up after 6months from ER6f. This bike as you may find will get knocked about a bit in wind. (Even more so I found than its predecessor the ER5) which was one of the reasons I upgraded. Enjoy your wheels, it’s a reliable steed.
