Hi from Cairns

Postby Romeo » Mon Nov 30, 2009 6:39 pm

Hi guys and girls.
My names Luke, 18, live in Cairns QLD.
Tomorrow I will hopefully give the nod to a 2007 GPX250. The bike is cheap, has rwc/registration, service history and has been owned by a 60 year old from new (im not kidding). Only catch is it has done 47000 k's

So my first question is what are the common problems if any with the later model gpx and what should i look for? Appart from the obvious like chain and sprokets etc. Also how many k's could you expect from a well serviced 250 before it would require 'freshening up'.

Thanks and ride safe.

Luke

well im a little bit dissappointed in the overall condition of the bike, few scratches here and there. Its a 12/07 with 48000 k's with RWC and 4 months rego for $2500. It would clean up ok.
Do you think its worth it?

GPX250's go forever, so I wouldn't be too concerned about the k's - check redbook for the $'s, but 2.5K sounds like a decent deal.
If it's only a few scratches here and there I wouldn't worry - you'll probably do more (everyone drops sometime - even in the driveway).
Have a look around and compare and you'll get an idea of what else you can get for the same money.
You might be able to get an older model, with similar k's for cheaper - dunno.

btw 45000k's just sounds to me as if it was used as intended - I put more than that on mine in 1 year ;)
