Forum Guidelines, FAQs and Faux Pas Avoidance Tips

Postby dave#3 » Mon Dec 24, 2007 6:22 pm

Here it is, everything you need to know about KSRC and how it all works.

How much does it cost?
Nothing, zip, yadda, nil. KSRC is free to join.

Who owns KSRC?
KSRC is owned by MadKaw - aka Dave.

How does KSRC make money?
KSRC doesn't make money. Sometimes there is a small profit left over after a merchandise run, and this covers (some of) the costs of hosting the site. We don't sell advertising, and our site sponsors pass savings on to our members rather than lining the clubs coffers.

Merchandise
We don't stock merchandise, sorry. A few times a year we'll do a run of merchandise (shirts, singlets, hats, beanies, bags, stubby holders, hoodys, fleecies and more have all been done in the past). The prices for these magnificent pieces are very reasonable, but they're made to order. If you'd like some merchandise (and let's face it, who wouldn't) keep an eye out for the next merchandise run.

Signatures
There is a 255 character limit. Be creative, or not.

Avatars
Maximum dimensions; width 150 pixels, height 150 pixels, file size 29kB. Easy.

Introductions
It can be hard joining in discussions on a forum full of people who all know each other, and know all the in-jokes. We can't do much about that (why didn't you join up years ago, we all did) but if you post up a quick intro thread with some details about yourself and your bike(s) we'll at least try to make you feel welcome.

Profiles
There's a few bits of information you can record in your profile that are helpful, particularly your location and your bike. In the location we'd at least like to see a state, perhaps a suburb (we don't need your home address in full, nor your mothers maiden name) and the bike you ride. This information comes in handy when you ask "where can I get a widget for my bike" and forget to mention a state or bike model. I know, you'd never be that silly, but others have been, so humour us, OK?

Etiquette
KSRC is a very relaxed place, and we think we're pretty welcoming. Although we currently won't stop you from using our site as a free classifieds service we'd appreciate it if you humoured us enough to at least say "Hello " before posting your bits and bobs for sale. You never know, you might just find you like it here. Businesses are NOT to use KSRC for free advertising unless they have previously sought approval from MadKaw.

Ride Disclaimer
Motorcycling is dangerous and you ride at your own risk and to your own skill level. Always wear appropriate safety gear and obey road rules. No liability is accepted by the KSRC administrators, owner, web host or any other related party in any way from use of information or participation on any ride related to this site. You only enter the site and become a member on acceptance of those and any other conditions.

KSRC do not run, organise nor take any responsibility for any rides or events posted.
KSRC only supply a forum for people to contact each other.

Please make sure your bike is roadworthy (above all else) and complies with the rules and regulations of the state you are in.

Social Events
Apart from riding, quite a few of our members organise social events throughout the year. Keep an eye out in the "Rides & Get Togethers" forum for an event in your state, or post up if you're hosting an upcoming event. Partners are always welcome, and some events may be kid-friendly (some are quite obviously not, too!)

Club History
The original KSRC was started in 1999, by Dave (MadKaw) as a Yahoo Club. Yahoo then dropped the clubs and merged them with the Yahoo Groups in October, 2001. We remained as a Yahoo group for many years until we decided to set up our own entity on the net, thus the site and forum as you currently see it. The current site was created in April 2004.

Who's Who in the Zoo
Dave - MadKaw - Founder / Owner / Admin
Dan - Icebreaker - Forum / Admin
Jason - Aardvark - Website / Admin
Dave - dave#3 - Nerd (Site Pit Biatch)
Rob - Robracer - Moderator / Merchandise

Stickers
Yes, we have stickers. No, we absolutely, positively 100% DO NOT tolerate you sticking them to anybody else's bike. This is a hanging offence.
If you'd like some stickers PM the distributor for your state (or one of the admin team)
Dave (MadKaw) for NSW.
Jason (Ardvark) for SA
Glenn (GreenMeenie) for QLD
Mario (MFZX6R) Northern VIC
Mick (Mick c) For ACT

Sponsors
There are quite a few organisations who sponsor KSRC by offering discounts to our members. You don't need any special handshakes or secret codes, just mention you're a member and they'll look after you. You may need to have hat, shirt or sticker to prove your member so take something along just in case. For a complete list check out this thread

A message from our fearless leader
We have been around since late 1999, and in that time we have only had to ban 1 member. That was some nutcase who threatened to kill every KSRC member he saw. That was a pretty severe threat and we had no option but to remove him.

We have had our ups and downs, like all online groups, but most people on here get along very well and the fighting and agro has always been kept to a minimum.

If you've had a post deleted, take that as warning that the content is not wanted. You then have a choice of changing your behaviour or being warned, if you don't change and get another warning, the next step will be your account removal.

If you don't like someone, don't post or read their threads, add them as a foe in your control panel. If you have a difference of opinion, express it in a mature, non-confrontational manner.

If you think that this is an open forum and you can say whatever you like, with no consequences, think again. This forum is owned by me (MadKaw) and operated by the 3 Admins, me, Dan and Jason. We will be the ones who decide what is acceptable. If you don't like it, save us the time and leave on your own accord, but don't sweat it, it takes a lot to rattle our cages.

Congratulations
You made it this far, well done. If there's something I've missed yell out, we're a friendly bunch around here.

Have I missed anything guys and girls? If so, please post here. Once your suggestion has been included in the original I'll delete your post (don't take it personally, I just want to keep this thread neat and tidy).

Hi, how do I get to my Profile and possibly upload a photo to be seen as my profile. Thanks :kuda:
