Well I called the mechanic, he got pissed off since I've been in and out for the last 4-5 days trying to get lots of little things done. (pulling bearings off and undoing a few bolts and levering the tyres off) The motor has been sitting there for a good week and a half, I've told him I'm not in any hurry for it, I called up to find out what exactly was the outcome when they did the compression test apparently early this week or late last week, the moment the owner got on the phone he wasn't being very friendly, this is normally a nice guy that is ok to deal with. The moment I asked him what happened in the compression test he said " Look mate, I'm trying to get this shit done for you, but you've keep pushing, I'm trying to help you but you should just take it somewhere else" and after he ranted for a few minutes on how much I'm forcing him and pushing him and how other people should come first he finally gave me a moment to speak. All I wanted to know was which cylinder had low compression and what part of the process did he think was at fault. He said he reckons the rings, so apparently the whole motor will need a rebuild. I'm still pretty upset with that reaction, this guy used to be fairly good, and he said it's because he's a man down and he doesn't like how mcuh I'm pushing. I'm feeling quite confused and offended right now. Do you guys think I should get my motor out of there? I understand , they've gotten heaps busy now, when I used to take my bike there they had only maybe 6-10 bikes outside, nowthey have about 50 and the staff has doubled. Shouldn't I be allowed to ask questions quite often, isn't it acceptable for me to expect some sort of advice about my own motor before I go out and spend lots of money on it? They've already done valve clearances, he's just told me he reckons it's going to give me a lot of problems and that he can buy me a new motor for $1100, but if he thought this, why the f&*k would he have done the clearances???? I'm not going to name this mechanic, but I'm feeling pretty let down right now, and pretty pissed off that he tells me "I've got all these customers waiting and I can't do anything because you keep pushing, I can't do anything and I'm telling you we'll give you a cal when we get to your motor" which is fine, but now my understanding is that they're going to now rebuild the carbies for me, do a full report on the engine, and then charge me everything, only to tell me it's a dud? Wtf am I paying for?

Sorry to hear that mate, wish all goes good at the end.

would you mind PMing me on this mechanic? I live in the area and what he did was pretty rude.

Well quick update guys,

today I spent 4 hours sanding down the headers and painting them, looks great, don't have any photo's yet because it's dark, but I took some before ones, and I'll have some after ones tomorrow. will upload this tomorrow.

on the mechanic note, dropped by to check up today, like i said before he told me he'll call me before he does anything, and again, that failed. He already ordered the valve shims to reset 2 valves that were out of spec, not that I'm unhappy with that, because that'll certainly help my compression problems. The best thing he's said today was that my motor is roughly 150 psi in each cylinder, and that number 4 is slightly lower compression, which I don't think will be a major issue, but he seems to think that it'll break soon, I doubt that.

Things are now coming together for the rebuild, I'm still waiting on bearings and some bolts, nuts and washers (560 pieces to be exact) to come from the UK, the bearings are going to be a few weeks from now, while the bolts and nuts etc should be here within a week. Almost there guys! I'm starting to get sick of this, I just want to be out on the road! But I know that this will be the hardest part, luckily I labelled EVERYTHING, and took photo's of EVERYTHING! I checked my miscallaneous box, and I've got only 3 bolts that I can't figure out where they belong. (somewhere in the rear subframe area)

On another note, I feel like I've learned heaps so far, and I'm enjoying that part! However the neck ache that comes with four hours of sanding kneeling on the floor is demotivating, BUT I"M PUMPED FOR THE FINISHED PRODUCT!

Hopefully there's more in the next week, I'm starting uni again, and things are going to get real busy, as it is I only get sundays off and I'm up and about from 5am-9pm on weekdays, WILL DO MY BEST!
