Thanks for the replies everyone. I've just had a major service on the bike, next service it goes in for I'll mention it. I thought it was unusual at the time, we'll see what they say.

A water cooled bike will radiate heat if you turn it off at the lights all the time, potentially heating it up more. However, a water cooled bike should be able to idle in 40c heat while stationery without overheating. If it doesn't, then there is something amiss with your cooling system.

The owner's manual for my Z750 says you shouldn't idle for any longer than a few minutes or it might overheat. I guess some bikes stay cooler than others.

a good tip when i ride, even thought im just a beginner and not sure if this has been put up, but esp for the supersport bikes, when coming to a bump or pot hole and you cant dodge it, get of the seat a few cm's to absorb the impact,

this one is good for the fellas

Yeah - I like my handy dave3 at full size
Also, if you put him in the ventura bag, there's no room for everyone else's luggage (ala oxley trip)

I do share him around a fair bit, and he is available for rent at the right price...
