Newbi looking for advice

Postby bd-850 » Mon Jun 21, 2010 3:40 pm

Hello all,

well to start off, my name is Ben, live in a small town near Wagga Wagga.

ive been looking at bikes for awhile now, ive sat on a few bikes and the Kawasaki Ninja 250 just felt right.

i hope to have a bike by the end of the year, just cant seem to save money, stupid cars.

im sure i will have a few stupid questions to ask later on.

Thanks,

Ron told me about this forum (dont know his username on here, but he also owns a CJ Lancer 8)

I guess to start off with, is:

Roughly what would you spend on all the protective gear? im not gona be one of these guys who ride in shorts and singlet.
so Gloves, Jacket, pants, etc and not a proper leather race suit.

I'd say at the end of the day you would be looking around $1000 plus or minus a couple of hundred (depends on what brand you buy). I paid about $1200 for my stuff, however I only have a textile jacket and pants. Leather will set you back even more. Just don't be skimpy or cheap with gear.

$500 for helmet $400 for my rjay jacket $50 for gloves and $160 for my boots, look around you can pick some gear up cheap in a few different places.
also depends on the colour, style and design of the gear you want...

..not that there's anything wrong with riding in shorts and t shirts, just kiss your skin goodbye when you fall off...

Hi Ben.

I know what you mean. Cars just drain all your money. I cant believe how much money I wasted on my last car, just to keep it on the road.

I've sold it now & am using public transport until I get a bike. Its a pain in the ass but this way, I'm saving more money towards a bike!

Ninja 250? Good choice me thinks! :kuda:
