Just thought I'd post some pics of my track bike build over the last year or so...

Image
I bought the bike as an unfinished project. No bodywork and everthing else pretty much stock except for the FCR's and carbon airbox.

Image

Image
Bought this carbon fibre bodywork including carbon fibre tank from a nice chap in Sydney who was parting out his race bike.

Stock radiator which has been cut down to get more airflow into the carbon airbox

Image
Stripped down and cleaned up

Image
Test fit up with the new bodywork. I've since found out from a knowledgeable member on here that this bodywork is ex Troy Bayliss 8)

Image
Nice set of period Marvic magnesium wheels. Bought these from USA

Image
The Marvics are a direct bolt on to ZXR including rotors and sprocket

Rebuilding the carbs was easy enough but splitting the rack of carbs was a stressfull job. Lots of shit to go wrong here

Image

Image

Image
Relocated the stock coils to the front to give more room for the airbox

New Yoshi multi temp meter. Also fittled a couple idiot lights and custom race wiring loom.

Image
Removed and blocked off the alternator, big weight saving here.

Image
Fitted a small carbon battery box in place of the alternator.

New titanium bolts (from UK) fitted to all of the rotors.

Image

Image
Bottom of the carbon airbox has been modified to allow the stock OEM fuel bowls to fit

Image
Lithium battery fitted, tight fit. Hope it's big enough to do the job

Image

Image
I hate this wavey rotor, but it's light and all I can find at the moment. My OCD won't allow it to stay for long. Need to find a period rotor ;)

It's now 95% finished. Just need to strip and repair/ replace the clutch and replace the water pump then hopefully do a track day for a test. No doubt there will be some tuning required to get the FCR41's to work

Thankyou for sharing, I love seeing build pics.

One thing that I can't resist commenting on is the exhausts.

When I compare this:

with this:

I can't help thinking that the first exhaust is aerodynamically better than the second, because the first muffler looks like it was oriented to help fill in the low-pressure wake area right behind the bike.

Thanks.

Yeah the exhaust is one thing that I need to fix. Not sure why but it sticks out like dogs balls! It's a Yoshi system made for the ZXR but the mid pipe looks like it's missing a bend for some reason.

Out of curiosity, what brand is the first exhaust? I can't quite make it out from the pic.

No idea. The headers are steel and very rusty. The muffler has a carbon shell but the muffler is falling apart. The headers may be OEM but there's a bsp plug at the bottom of the headers as if for an O2 sensor or something. Not sure what they would have come off
