Zx12R - radial master upgrade?

Postby Shifty » Sun Apr 26, 2015 9:34 pm

Hi guys

Looking for a tipoff on a suitable radial master to use on a B1 ZX12R (has 6-pots).

My conventional master needs attention so I may as well upgrade while I'm at it.

Donor bike / sizing tips would be appreciated... prefer to get something off another OE bike that I can get for beer money on ebay when noone is paying attention.

I used one from a 2010 ZX6 on my ZX12. Used a reservoir mount bracked from a Ninja 1000SX and it fits and sits nicely on my Heli-bars

Not sure on the mounting of the B1 to the B3's being the 6 spotters and non radial but on the 2004 B4 onwards a nissen caliper and master off a zx14 zx6, cbr6 or tho with the spacers will do it.

When I put the Tokico 6 potters back onto the race bike, I paired them up with a radial master cylinder off a 2005/2006 ZX6R as for those two years they were a 3/4" or 19mm, so move more fluid than some of the other radial m/c's which are smaller diameters.
It's got a nice firm lever and still has good feel, so I'd say it's a good match for 6 potters and certainly that's what my research and calculations suggested would be the case.
Whatever you end up going with, make sure you know the diameter of the m/c, and what impact putting different sizes on will have with your calipers.
