ZXR750 J-M countershaft seal

Got a small oil leak and looks like its the countershaft sprocket seal - anyone know if these can be replaced in situ or do you need to take the whole alloy cover off (and if so is this a straighforward job? Looks like it is but prefer to check first!)

Hi Fifer, I just had to do mine as the little clutch shaft seal had died & was filling the clutch slave cylinder, it can only be replaced from within.
Its straight forward once you get everything out of the way, I think the side stand has to come off as well, don't forget to drain the oil first.
You'll need a new gasket for the side cover & I'd recomend replacing the clutch shaft seal while it's off, I replaced both seals, hopefully thats the last time it has to ever come off.
Note: I tried to replace the shaft seal with something off the shelf from Skefco & luckily they were switched on & saw that it was a different type of seal, not one for a spinning or rotating action but for a plunging type action so I just ordered genuine parts & am happy I did.
Looking forward to the quiet life !
