Been thinking about putting a set of heli bars on the 12 for a little while so I made a few calls to bike shops.
A couple rang back today with a price , Fark , just over $300 a bit more than I expected them to be
I'm not sure they are worth that much

So you reckon they're worth having Jonno , Do they make that much of a difference ?

mate if you can post up a link to these magical $125 Helibars - that would be awesome Never seen them for under $250 for a 12. Not in the last 8 years.

Stevo - yes, its worth changing the bars on a 12 for sure - as Jono has mentioned, I knocked up my own helibars a few years ago - the first version not so good, the second version a lot stronger .

But I have ditched the whole idea for something much simpler - a Wastelands top-clamp conversion. Just drilled a couple of holes in the top clamp, MStevo knocked me up some nice aluminium risers to match the MX-style bar clamps I was using - and bingo, a top-clamp conversion for not much more than a 6-pack.

I'll post some photos. No probs with cables - all stock cables work fine. The only remaining issue is to add a bit of thickness to the steering lock, to reduce it. This will stop the switchblocks touching the tank. Its only a matter of about 5-6mm so its not going to make a massive difference to the steering lock at all.

The bike is so comfortable to ride - like a Z1000 but with waaaaay more horsies powers

in my opinion they are worth it on longer trips. might not seem like a lot of rise but it made a big difference.

Ok I got that wrong I was thinking the heli risers, and the risers are under 100

Thanks for the advice guys , I've bit the bullet and ordered some , should be here by the end of the week they reckon

Can you bung up a pic of these risers for a 12 ? The Helibars for a 12 normally lift the height by around 30-40mm or thereabouts - how high are the risers and how do they fit on a 12 ?

The tube bar conversion I have done on the MFP12 lifts the bars around 100mm and maybe 60mm rearwards its might comfortable.

Went and picked up the Helibars today and started fitting them tonight , Fairly dissapointed to start with , At the price they are and you've still got to do some alterations , wasn't happy Jan
Had to drill another hole for the throttle ass.to locate on the bars , the one they have for it is way off.
Left hand bolt rounded off so I had to drill it and use an easyout , Head snapped off but got the bar out , I can get the old bolt out later.
Ordered some new bolts which should be here by Tues , going to be too hot to ride next week anyway
After sitting on the bike it feels a lot better than what it was , so hopefully money well spent

Hey Steve, thats interesting about the hole for the throttle ass. Didnt have any trouble with mine, the cables are now supposed to hang under the bar instead of over the bar as per stock..

Didn't see anything in the instructions about it , although not much information about fitting.
I think the old ones used to come with another clutch cable but not with these ones.
I'm happy with the end result although I haven't ridden it as yet but feels much better.

Went for a bit of a ride today with the new Helibars and it's made a big difference , Money well spent me thinks
