Akrapovic ZX9 question

Postby Crackers » Fri Nov 29, 2013 1:09 pm

Will the full Akrapovic system I pulled off my 'E' model fit the 'F' model as well ?
'E' being the 99-01 model and 'F' being the last incarnation IIRC

99 is C2 model. 2000 model was E. I can't recall if there were major changes from 99 to 03. I've read that zx9 headers fit an 04 z1000 if that helps.

Mines a 10/99 and listed as a 99 model on rego papers etc, but is an e model. Im guessing if its stamped 10/99 its in fact a ‘2000’ model though.

I would think so! Pretty sure only real changes are carb and airbox related on the engine. I just put ones advertised for an E1 on my C2.

Yep, it'll fit. The differences are limited to fairings, ECU and carbs - headers, link-pipe and end can are all the same.

Mine is stamped 12/2000 and is considered a 2001 model. Chassis number also verifies this as an E2

Mmm, interesting.
I honestly thought they were both different. Aren't the F series bikes shorter ? Maybe by the swing arm length perhaps. I'm not sure.

PURCHASED. Possibly THE last New Old Stock Full Race exhaust system available for E1- E2 ZX9R.

No longer manufactured. Pics to follow.

Here are some pics of my Akra system.
Cost wise, it took some wrangling and in the end the seller just wanted it gone I suppose and we came to a fair agreement.
A little background on this system. A dealer in the U.K was doing an inventory check and he came across this system buried amongst other systems and was the only one for E1-E2. I came across the listing by chance and jumped all over it.
Just prior to this I was losing hope that I would ever find one let alone a brand new one. Others I've been seeing were old clapped out versions and I couldn't even bring myself to putting one of these on my pristine machine.
So I think luck had something to do with it and the seller was a great bloke to deal with. Always quick and courteous with his messages.
I couldn't have hoped for a better outcome.

The headers and link pipe I have left wrapped until I do the install. The last pic is the actual listing pic.

Man these things are a work of art. So Beautifully made.
