Tokico 4 pots hitting rotor buttons on C1 ZX9R....

Postby QQQ » Mon Apr 29, 2013 2:48 pm

Hey all,

Have searched but haven't found this issue as yet.

I installed the 4 pot Tokico's, new Ferodo pads and a set of braking rotors (round one's as opposed to the fashionable wavy one's). First ride I could hear them quite clearly rattling away but put it down to the design of the caliper and the pads grabbing slightly and letting go causing the rattling. Upon closer inspection it turns out the rotor buttons were actually hitting the bottoms of the pads because the calipers themselves sit slightly lower then the 6 pots. To alleviate the problem out came the angle grinder and I took a little (5mm) off the bottom of each pad for clearance and now all is good, but I wondered if anyone else has experienced this too?

The braking rotors were exactly the same size as OEM and the calipers are off a 97-03 GSXR.....

That would be a resounding no

All good, maybe this will help someone in the future if they do the same swap ;)
