nasty crack found zxr750 H1 frame

Look what i found when i stripped down the bike for a rebuild. The bike was bought sight unseen  tho at a price i can live with. All brakes are on now while i way up my options, do i hunt around for a frame or cut my losses and break the bike for parts. The rest of the bike is in great condition apart from poor paint.Interesting that the weld cracked right in the middle. I'm in no hurry with what i do as i have a zxr750J1 track bike arriving shortly.

it could be rewelded , grind it out and reweld

just gotta find the right person to weld it to do a good job and make it look right

Yeah i know it can be rewelded as i have a guy thats done the steering stop & tacho bracket on my first gen gsxr track bike build. He does really great work but then there's the thought, will it get a blue slip? as rego has been expired just over 12 months and am i going to compromise metal integrity.

Dont grind, use a rotary tool with a carbide burr otherwise you will contaminate the weld.

Find the best (old bastard) that can alloy TIG weld to do it ;)

Every race frame I used had cracks welded. Stronger than new if done by somebody competent.

Robracer thanks, Berala near Lidcome, if you recommend a welder you've used before i'd be willing to try him.
Cheers.
