Any engine builders wanting to make cash?

Postby sparker » Wed Apr 27, 2011 1:05 pm

Hi guys,

wondering if there is anyone out there who could build my box of new zx7 parts into an engine for me? Willing to pay cash! Let me know.

Based in Geelong, but could post if necessary.

Give John Phelan at Mornington Kawasaki a call.
He is a site sponsor and use to race one..

Brilliant - will do, thanks. Thought there might be someone on here looking to make some easy money though?

Phelan's 750's were usually the faster of the privateers in Ausbk when it was FIM 750's. If he can't do it, Gavin Cosway still runs a workshop since he sold Cosway M/C to Peter Stevens. I will try & find his number if Mornington can't accommodate you.

hehe yeah thought it might be like that. I actually emailed the dealer and gave my mobile and email contacts for him to contact me at his leisure. Will see what comes from there.

Alternatively, no-one has a spare running zx7 engine they'd like to sell?

you could look at trying to get a workshop manual and sit down over the weekend and put it back together

i remember when i rebuilt my first gearbox on my gpz600r that was a head f**k until i sat down and followed the book and it was nice and easy..... easier then i expected

since then ive done a few motors and gearboxes
heck the old gpz600r i could have the fairings off engine out and on the bench in the shed and gearbox split in about 45 minutes without a hassle (kinda put the shift drum and forks in wrong once or twice  ) but all in good fun

yeah I have a workshop manual and have contemplated putting it together myself, but as I have never built one before and this came to me already in bits, I am a tad hesitant.... If I was able to pull a running motor apart first, no problem!

id give it a shot itll bring your confidence up alot once completed then you get the satisfaction of doing it yourself and whats the worst that can happen you get it in the bike and turn it into a pile of pieces when your done lol just joking

if you dont rush it and take your time and walk away when you start getting frustrated it should all be good ;)

I have built a few engines (mostly industrial diesel as that what my trade was) and a few dirtbike engines and would able to come down to Geelong for a couple of weekends to give you a hand...just not the next 3 weekends everyone is getting married but after that I can

I was chatting to him about this bike a couple of weeks ago. He said he is going to give it a clean up and put it on display. I bloody hope so!
