ZX2R Sprocket problem, please help.

Postby Tilley1991 » Sun Mar 13, 2011 10:21 am

Gday all, got my bike fixed up and running, went for a ride out last night and had issues with my chain, by the end of the ride last night i almost lost the sprocket off the back wheel, it has come loose and is probably as loose as a *insert generic sexual reference*, now can anyone tell me a quick way to fix this problem since i think the internals of the sprocket are flogged where they go on the shaft, or possibly have an old sprocket i can buy off them?

Would a ZX2R Sprocket be interchangable with any other?

You could try typing "NSW Kawasaki Dealers" into Google .........

Just get it out, measure it, and check out the SKF catalogue online, get a part number. Go to local bearing supplier and buy a new one. You can probably skip the measuring step and just take it to the local bearing shop...but you'll have to answer a bunch of stupid questions that are really irrelevant. Sometimes you can get lucky at Repco.
Bearings have to be one of the best value for money items left in the world! So cheap for what you get.

Clean off the bearing and see if there are any numbers on it . Take those numbers to any bearing supplier and see if they can supply a bearing to suit .
Failing that take the parts with the flogged bearing remains in them to the bearing shop . They should be able to measure them up for you .
If its a special one of Kawasaki bearing , then a Kawasaki dealer is the go .
Ummmm let me see

i think i will replace all the rear bearings and the rubbers as well as the sprocket while i am at it and the only problem with getting the numbers off the bearings is that all that is left of the bearing is 3 ballbearings that are stuck to the grease the rest is gone lol might have to get the parts off a kawa dealer
