I think I f*cked it... [Fixed]

Talk about being an idiot...

Went to install a timing advancer wheel today and in my haste I stupidly put the rattle gun on the nut head on the OEM wheel, zapped it and wondered why it was free-wheeling so much. That's when I realised that it was the Allen key bolt in the middle that I had to take off

Result: Broke the locating nib off the crank gear that locates the advancer wheel relative to the crank  Shore it clean off at the surface.

Any ideas on what to do now? I'm definitely not going to install the wheel without that locating nib... Maybe I can drill it enough to shove something else in there as a locating pin?

The thing that really pisses me off is the fact that I actually have a Haynes manual but didn't think about reading it because it looked so straight forward

rattle gun.......*shakes head*......these things are deadly...

if you can get a photo up that would be good......but my first reaction is that you may have made a terminal mistake ! Was this locating 'nib' thingy actually cast or machined into the end of the crank ? If it was.....you will either have to get a new 'nib' welded onto that crank, or a new crank.

There may be other solutions though - bang up a couple of detailed pictures if you can, that will help.

When else fails - and it seems to have in a spectacular fashion - read the instructions.
Rattle guns are for wheel nuts on your car and pretending your part of the FPR team at Bathurst.

Here are a couple of pics

My only idea at this stage is to drill out the remnants of the old nib and stick something else in there.

Yeah rattle guns are dangerous, but the feeling of power is just oh so addictive
