G'day people.
Has anyone put driving lights on a zx12r (if so where?) or is the Hi/Lo HID option the way to go?
Suggestions and photo's gratefully accepted.

the 12's have awesome headlights the way they are.

it would be hard to mount them somewhere that it wouldnt look odd.

Could wear a miners helmet with the torch on top.

imo,,,the 12r headlights are pretty dam good compared to other bikes i have ridden,,,,,,,,mite be time to put some new globes in

I figured i might as well go through the recent HID threads and pointing out that you can get HID kits from jaycar. Kit information on their website here.

there is a way, but why?

HID's are awesome on the 12's. Just make sure you get dual beam globes.

i wouldnt bother with the high beam HID, takes way too long to warm up so makes flashing almost impossible when you need it.
Replace the standard with an 8k HID and leave the high beam alone.

Or ive heard there are high beam HID lights which will always be on, but when you hit the flash button it will move a little reflector to focus the beam higher. All comes down on how much you want to spend

the zx12 uses both headlights on low and high beam, the standard globe has 2 filaments (correct term?)

so you would need to purchase HIDs that will allow this high and low beam off the same bulb to happen.

I fitted some of those Arctic Blue lamps to the MFP12 - the headlights were fine on high beam, lit up the road really well....

It would be almost impossible to fit a big set of spotties, but you could fit some smaller ones on the inside of the fairing lowers, basically up at each top corner of the radiator. They make 60mm spotties in 100w these days, cheaper and easier than HID's I reckon...

I purchased my HID kit locally at 999 automotive at Coopers Plains, QLD. I think around $220 for the full kit with 12mths warranty. I did buy a set from Star Rotors in the US, and had only 1 months use, then they didn't work. I sent them back & i got a refund but a lot of stuffing around & freight costs. I'll only get that kind of stuff locally now. I've had no trouble with the new ones (around 8 mths old). A bit fiddly to install the balasts & wiring as far as finding a home for it all, but no changes to wiring, it all just plugs in.
They look awesome & light up the road to tomorrow! When initally turned on (from cold) they take around 8 seconds to get to full brightness. They look cool coming to life! After that high to low & back to high beam is instant. Highly recommended.
