Cam chain and guide replacement

I have a 92 ZXR 750 and i need to Replace the camchain and guides, I have a factory Kawasaki service manual and i doesn't tell me any procedures on how to do it, I cant seem to see how i can get the guides out without taking the cams out and possibly taking the barrels off ????
The other problem is that i can't see the timing marks properly on the cams because the motor is very close to the frame, So do i need to drop the motor out for this???.
If anybody has done this can they point me in the right direction i just want some idea's before i tackle it.
