95-97 zx6r fender eliminator

Postby freestyler » Tue Jan 19, 2010 9:51 pm

Has anyone modified the rear of their zx6r 95-97.
wanted to make a fender eliminator up for it (to tuck the plate up higher and get some LED blinkers), but had a look and would require cutting a big section of that rear plastic guard out. If anyone was done it and maybe has pics? post them up

Cheers

Yeah I cut down the mudguard on my 97 ages ago, no pics though, also have done my zrx. get one of those white paint pens and mark where you want to cut the either hacksaw or dremel will do the job.

I can show you a before and after for the rex but i didn't take any of the process but I don't have any at all of the 97 zx6.

On the rex I actually removed the whole guard assembly which was a reasonably time consuming job, then cut the entire mudguard bit off. I got a number plate holder to attach to the bottom of the guard to hold the plate and indicators.

On the 6 I just marked it with a paint pen and cut it off using a hack saw blade then tidied it up with a file.

If I were you I would just cut it just beneath the numberplate bracket.

Thats exactly what I did, on my ZZR, ZX9 and ZRX, worked a treat everytime. Hacksaw blade and tidy up ;)

half way through it, jigsaw is much easier than hacksaw, cuts like butter, now to make the bracket up and new number plate light.

Couldnt cut as much off as I wanted to, as it would have left the rear storage compartment open.
