Ok So i Have pirates engine in and we had a problem with 1 & 2 cyclinders not working {running on 2 only}, now after replacing leads and spark plugs, im pleased to say it is running real smooth. Oh and cleaned the carby bowls since there was a little dirty in there.

now starting her was a problem at first but now she starts first go, but the throttle cable was broken so i replaced it with joes ones {the list is adding up }.

Now the problem is she is reving at 3 grand instead of dropping down to idle revs. I have adjusted the the idle cable right out so thats not the problem. i have noticed where the in & out throttle cables go if i push down with a screw driver the revs drop back down. i have noticed there is a adjustment for the accerlation but is there any for the de-accerlation?

Sounds like a return spring issue maybe..?

thats what i was thinking aswell, coz when i inspected it, it was abit sqaushed up in there.

Either that or it might need a little bit of wd or oil to free it up perhaps..

i just had a check and it is sticking at the the throttle at the carbies, so i might just replace the spring and yes spray enough wd40 to get it smoother. apart from that im stuck.


But yes Joe I got it started, wasnt going to work on the PirateGen but i felt alot better this afternoon.

update: not the springs, had to replace a throttle cable but she was still only running on 2 cyclinders tll you twisted the throttle.

SOOOOO today in my hangover state took the carbies off and started to rip them apart. Grabbed the air compressor and cleaned everything, pulled the jets out cleaned them, then checked the openings {cant remember what there called} and noticed 2 of them are staying open when the throttle is released, so adjusted them with a screw driver and made sure they were all synced and put the bike back together.
got the fuel back into the bowls, adjusted the idle cable and wow she sounds GOOOOOOOOOD!

rode it up the street and she is running really nice.

to get the butterflys open the same amount quickly and easily i use a drill bit, stick it in one butterly then wind the idle adjustment screw out so it holds that butterfly open so the drill bit is a nice fit, then without touching to idle screw adjust the other 3 butterflys to suit the drill bit.
oh i use about a 1.5mm bit

yeah she drops bak nice and smooth. She scared the crap out of me when i rode up my street. didnt expect the power difference!!!! even when i rode her with the other engine. but she is so smooth. Cant wait to get her reregistered then put her micron can back on. Will sound sweet.
