1995 ZX6R questions

Hey guys, just trying to put together my 95 zx6r, and trying to work out where the oil cooler goes. It usually goes beneath the radiator, but there is not enough clearance on my model. Is it true that there is a short and a long wheel base model? I have seen a few pics of stripped down models, and mine seems to have a shorter wheel base. Any help given would be awesome, as I wanna get off the zx2r and onto the 6r lol
Cheers
Mick

No mate, I've never heard of a short and long wheel base version of any Kwaka sportbike. Before you do too much more work on it I'd suggest getting the specifications, particularly the wheelbase length and measure yours up before you go any further. If you cant fit things where they belong I wouldn't be surprised to learn that your frame has been bent (and perhaps straightened).

cheers mate - i thought it may have been a short wheel base as I saw one on a website. Trying to get a manual is a killer too - even when I order one I get the wrong one sent lol Doesn't seem to be any damage to the frame - perhaps I am just not a mechanic haha

Where are you located? Perhaps one of the old hands in your area could have a look at it for you. Frame damage can be pretty difficult to see (it's not all tears and big dents), It might also just be that you've put something in the wrong spot too!!!

Due to a number of years racing one of these, I can strip and rebuild them in my sleep!!!

There is no SWB version from the factory. If you have seen one, you have seen some idiot's homemade version. The Oil coiler on mine sits directly below the radiator, mounted to the bottom of the rad. The only time we ever had tyre to cooler clearance issues, was if we ran the forks too far down in the triple clamps. Post up some pics of the dilemma if you are able I might rcognise what's going on from that. Is it an Ex Racebike??? If so, a lot of the times we junk 99% of the mounting hardware!

OMG - I am soo sorry Mick. I got an email asking about the long and short wheelbase verison and thought is was so spammer trying to get a hit on an active email address.
The 'short wheelbase' verison refered to on my website is due to it running up the arse of a car
In this pic you can see the oil rad 'hanging' under where the water rad sits

and this one where the water rad sits above the oil rad. Note the oil rad bracket hanging loose

sorry i don't have pics of the 2 together.

It might just be the photos, but those forks don't look like they've got anywhere near enough rake. Has this bike been crashed Mick? It really looks to me a lot like the second photo Mitch posted - the one that's run up the arse of a car.

i've got a similar (but not as bad) issue on the 7, and that was due to running into a wall at reefton.... i'm with the others, my guess is that your SWB mod was probably made to happen by running the bike into something a touch more solid than it

yeah, it had an off at about 40 km's an hour on the grass. It has hardly any crash damage apart from the radiator and oil cooler.

The frame is bent

up near the steering head there are some creases.
If you look at mitches first pic of the straight bike and then look at yours.
but it could be a cheap repair
