hey guys,
took my little 2fiddy screamer out for a thrash round the block and noticed it wouldn't rev more then 16,000 rpm or was very hesitant on doin so,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, and as i was downshifting the bike would stall,,,, to make it even better the battery's fucked so there i am clutch starting the bitch lolz,,,,,
I then realised it was low on fuel lolz so i tapped it to reserve and no more stalls when downshifting,,,,, one problem gone so i went to go over 16,000 rpm when one of my fellow neighbours was on the street yelling and abusing me trying to detour me into his driveway, so i dodged him then looked back n there he is on his mobile,
Me being paranoid cause its not registered and is a race bike n is fuking loud go as quietly and quickly home as i can throw the bike in the garage, rip my gear off and sit under the carport all cool like to see him walking the streets looking for that little punk ass cunt he so described to me as he asked me have a heard anything,,, this fuckwit rung the cops had them driving round for a good 30mins telling them i was doin burnouts and wheelies lolz what a wanker......

anyways to my point if my bike was low on juice could that be the reason for it going up to and hesitating to scream past 16,000rpm as i didnt get to test it and am to freaked out to try today i won stop thinking about it till tommorro when i take it for another thrash

anyone got any ideas???

no... they have a vaccum operated fuel valve which also has a primary position to eliminate vaccum problems within the valve

tim dont get too upset if you havn't had a definitive answer to your post after all the people who are part of this forum are not all familiar with bikes mechanicals some are some arnt but you cant expect instant responses to every question you post if you are wanting instant answers go pay for them from a qualified mechanic also remember that not everyone is familiar with your particular bike im not even sure i know what it is but the first thing i would do is to attempt to go back to school and learn how to structure sentences and how to utilise some mild form of grammer in order to make reading your posts far easier it just might also improve the respnses you get just a suggestion how you take it is up to you the second thing i would do is replace that knackered battery as it certainly wouldnt help proceedings if the battery is completely gone it might not be allowing enough juice alternatively it could well be the flux actuator valve which is common on high compression four cylinder four stroke racing engines its located right next to the commar full stop apostrophe question mark and exclamation mark buttons on your kwerty keyboard i hope this assists in gaining you something if not maybe you should drink some cement

Tim - your post only went up at 7.16 tonight mate, give it a couple of days and you might have a response from some other members...........don't expect anything *instantly* it will never happen.

as far as the problem goes, well yes running low on fuel is a possibility. The easiest way to test this is to fill the tank, and take it for another thrash, this time in the opposite direction to the asshat neighbour you have..........

If this doesn't fix the problem, you may need to get the carbies balanced and serviced by a mechanic. Its worth the dollars, trust me....

you dont ride an unregistered bike on the street!, I suggest you have a look into what it will cost in points & cash if you are caught it is not worth the heartache your exact words.......you were going for a "thrash round the block" well that sort of says it all with the reaction you got from your neighbour.
as for your bike, start with the new battery & keep it charged weekly, with the carbs it sounds like you might have some crap blocking the main jets possibly so as Gos said a good carbie clean & ballance should be the fix.

guys i didnt expect a reply straight away i understaned that i wouldnt get one, i just can't stand pointless posts!
to eliminate the easiest thing i filled her up and took it for a run and still the same problem
i thought that the battery was mainly used for starting and then the alternator keeps the bike running and charges the battery? correct me if im wrong....
might have to strip the carbies and give them a clean and stuff is balancing them an ass of a job?, and does anyone have the required tools to do so? like a mercury guage and a vaccum guage they wouldnt mind lending me?
to try an easy fix do u reckon spark plugs would be a thing to try before stripping the carbs and possibly causing more problems then i already have?
also it revs fine untill it hits 16,000 if the carbs are blocked do u think it would rev ok till 16,000? or maby at that revs it needs so much fuel and because of a blockage or poor balancing it just cant do it in this state of tune?

What exactly happens as you approach / get to 16000rpm?
Balancing carbs is one of those things that is easy if you know how - no harm in having a crack and learning how though.
Diagnosing problems on a forum is hit and miss. Do perhaps try to hook up with somebody here on the forum nearby who can observe and has the ability to help you diagnose.

it just sits at 16,000 like rev limiter has kicked in goes a bit above, sorta sounds like its starving on fuel or spark


anyone compitent on balancing carbies and such that lives near greystanes NSW willing to help/teach me theres beer in it for ya hehe

Tim how long has it been since you changed the plugs?
I have had very worn plugs stop my bike from hitting high rpm before.
They are fine down low but fail at top end. Just a thought.
Plug leads arcing out on head is another.

At least i have an idea and not a pointless post.

Now, it sounds more like a lack of fuel than an electrical or spark glitch. From what you say, it doesn't sound as though it's breaking down, more just not pulling past 16. Things to check is the filler valve to ensure it's not getting an air lock, then fuel pump next. Sometimes as they get to the end of there life they get a little lazy. Yamaha's are well known for it.

However, I would fit a new battery before anything else and check the chrging system. If the battery is absolutely knackered, the charging system, may not be able to throw enough into the knackered battery to hold enough for sparking duties.

plug leads are new and are on securely just checked, not loose or anything.

i changed the plugs a while ago actually to be honest they were in my old engine thats now fucked another story but have probably seen bout 2 track days and 300klms of street riding and alot of failed attempts at starting lolz
also another thing hinting towards plugs is the bikes running rich (flames and shit when at high revs and letting the throttle snap back) but still revs nicly and hammers along
so i will change plugs cheers JetPilot

Try looking at the simple things
Fresh fuel
Plugs
Air filter - clean or replace
Battery - if it is considered to be going bad replace it so that it may provide a decent chance of putting out a consistent voltage.
Does it rev past this point in the garage?
Does the throttle cable actually open the carbs fully?
Choke fully disengaged?
Stand in the dark with it running and blip the throttle looking for arcing - even tune in an am radio nearby and see if it pops or cracks in time with the engine.
Cleaned the carbs recently? if not then have a go. While your at it then set the float heights and sync them. Take your time. Easy once you know how but daunting if you haven't done it before.
Possibly the coils are breaking down too with the higher RPM.
It is either going to be fuel or electrical - go from there
Very difficult to diagnose though without more detailed info.
The other thing you will find too is that not many people have had much "Valid" experience with these bikes. They are mostly owned by the relative newcomer who, whilst well meaning, actually doesn't know much more about them than you may but is still willing to give you bum advice. Personally never touched one hence why I ask if it had a fuel pump. I recently had an FZR250 in the garage and I learned that they can be notorious for dodgy pumps. Similar era and same capacity.
