selling difficulties

i've had my zx2r for about a year now, and i'm trying to sell it. but its been difficult, in my opinion i believe its because of the growing number of hyosung dealers opening up in melbourne. everyone is buying the newer gt250 and ignoring zx2r's, cbr's, fzr's. the zx2r used to be a popular bike for learners but the gt250 is newer, cheaper, and i'm not too sure but i think its faster. because of this i dont think i'll be able to sell my bike for any thing above $4,000. :(
what does everyone else think about this little problem?

Ummm no idea! where have you been trying to sell it?

I know of someone who may be on the lookout for a ZXR250 in the near future... where abouts are you?

you could ride it to my place, and i'll give you a lift to the station so you can catch the train home :lol:


or you could advertise it on bike sales, bike point, trading post, ebay etc

it will sell eventually, just need to have a reasonable price on it compared to others on the market ;)

It may get even harder to sell when LAMS is introduced to Vic in the middle of the year.

The 650 Hyusong is Lams approved in NSW, with restricters of course..

the hyosung is lighter but NOT quicker dont worry lolz its just learners like the warrranty and the cheapness of the hyosungs but few ppl i know have them and they are really needng the warranty sadly enough n saying that they will only get better but like the others have said just keep advertising it ppl that know these bikes know there a really good bike and if u have kept it mechanically sound and in good condition it will sell no worries :) where u located n how much u asking

lol, i thought you were selling 'difficulties' I have been searching for a swathe of difficulties at a reasonable price... although after my recent excursion to EC.. i think i have all the difficulties I can handle at the moment ;)

hey thanks for the comments, i have a good feeling about the sale now. i'm down in melbourne, trying to get around 4,500. i guess i just got scared when i saw the growing number of hyosungs on the roads.

Hyosung GT250R is slower than the GPX250, despite all the marketing talk about powerful high tech v-twin. So they're only competing for the posers who want a pretty 250 (and then pull the 250 stickers off). Your problem may be that the fast 250 four strokes are really expensive in Victoria. Maybe the market has finally realised this. Consider that I bought a flawless 2003 GPX250 with 10,500 km for $4000 a year ago. Also consider that my 1987 TZR250 is faster than the ZXR250 and it cost $1500 :D

ANd with just some minor suspension, Chamber, caliper and jetting mods not much would be faster!!!! :D
I did over 40,000 klms on my TZR 250 including a few rebuilds and it was a very capable bike. At the time I rode it with the Motorcycle touring Club Of Victoria which some know of. The guys I rode with all had ZX10's, GSXR1100's,Early Blades, YZF750's and VFR750's as well as ZZR1100's! It was really only when things exceeded $1.40 that it would struggle, but up to that point it stayed with the bigger bikes. Plus, once we hit a tight one, the little TZR was usually out front!!! :lol: Fond memories!!! :oops:

I still think the four stroke 4 cyl 250's look good, but if for some odd reason I was forced back onto a 250, It would have to be a Reverse Cylinder TZR Yamaha!!!!!! :twisted: They are still an awesome looking sports bike!

If you sell it on bikesales, bikepoint etc, it will appeal to people in other states. I live in QLD . There are more and more people wanting 250's every day! and loving the Kawasaki, i always recommend them to the newbies!

Depends,
if it's one of the recent ones sold new by dealers (not imported), then your price is reasonable and you stick it out. If however you paid similar $$ 2 yrs ago then it's time to wear it and accept you don't make money or break even on a bike sale. For an oldie I'd be thinking more like $3K. But it's not totally black & white.

Also folks, let's not compare 250 2strokes to 250 4strokes, that's pointless isn't it. The 2strokes were derived from racebikes, & the 250 4 strokes, well, who knows where they came from.

in the case of small singles like the old Z250, they came as 1/4 of the Z1000 !! ;) - same bore/stroke, same piston, hell even a KL250 dirt-bike piston will fit a Z1000 !!
